2017 Audi S6 4.0T quattro Prestige Sedan AWD Review
The S6, which I test drove twice, second time quite extensively, left me underwhelmed each time. I really wanted to like it. The powertrain is just so well sorted. The interior is well-crafted and befitting of an $80k car (with options, thats what I was planning on spending). It has the sleeper look to avoid attracting attention. Yet the handling is just so bland that I couldnt justify the price premium over a BMW 340i (which I bought because of a major discount and it has a manual transmission). Then I drove a Macan GTS. "It is true that Porsche charges extra for every little thing that, these days, often will come standard on a Corolla even. An $80k Audi S6 has more features than an $80k Macan GTS, it will embarrass the Macan in every test of speed and acceleration. Yet the GTS is still a better value when you consider that the S6 feels has no character when it comes to anything other than accelerating in a straight line. In addition, the S6 has an interior that shares many parts with the A3; the shifter paddles are PLASTIC! The Macan has the same Porsche interior as ... only other Porsches. You feel like you are driving a much more special car." |
