I love the Mazda 3, owned an older hatchback model, but when they extended the nose of the car it lost its zoom zoom because of a sluggishness related to weight of the car, as well as a reduced engine size in certain models. Some 2016s (CX 3&5) also have a surging engine problem which Mazda refuses to acknowledge for recall.

I use this for work and it replaced a 2007 Mazda 3. I really like the size, design and adaptability. Great mileage and fun to drive.

Good power and good handling. Killer looking in that red color. Little high on price. No back seat room at all. Very limited in storage. Great car for two passengers, and Mazda quality.

Great little car, daughter wanted something similar in size to her (older model)Rav4 This was perfect, but we chose the CX-5 for her due to the larger rear hatchback storage area capacity. Test drove this one, the. Baught the CX-5

  • Power
  • Handling
  • Looks/Style
  • Front Seats
  • Back Seats
  • Cargo Capacity
  • Family Car
  • Value

Power Ranked 2014 Mazda CX-5 Touring better.
"The bigger 2.5L engine seemed peppier than the CX-3s 2.0L engine, it seemed to accelerate a lil quicker than the CX-3"
Handling Ranked 2014 Mazda CX-5 Touring worse.
"The CX-3 is obviously smaller, and tighter turning radious, felt like driving a go kart, stopped quickly, and sharper than the CX-5. The shocks were ok, and you didn’t feel all of the bumps like other reviews have mentioned, maybe I got the slushier tires or something from the dealership, but this was only a test drive, I didn’t end up buying one. "
Looks/Style Ranked 2014 Mazda CX-5 Touring better.
"The CX-5 looks like it should be the size that it is, the CX-3, looks too small, and the CX-7s and 9s look like a stretched out version, of what it should look like...the CX-5"
Front Seats Ranked 2014 Mazda CX-5 Touring better.
"Again the CX-3 was adequate front seating for a sub compact car for my daughter, but compared to the. CX-5, which we ended up buying, there is no comparison. Much more room, much more comfortable overall."
Back Seats Ranked 2014 Mazda CX-5 Touring better.
"There wasn’t enough leg room in the back of the CX-3 to get into the back seat, once in the car the head room was ok, and the foot room was adequate, but getting into the back seat wasn’t easy, and I’m only 6’0 tall, the CX-5 is perfect size for the whole family"
Cargo Capacity Ranked 2014 Mazda CX-5 Touring better.
"The rear cargo area of the CX-3, was enough for a couple of golf bags, and if that’s all you need this car to do, then you are fine, but the CX-5 fits more, and drives relatively the same, very easily."
Family Car Ranked 2014 Mazda CX-5 Touring better.
"Storage space, more power with the 2.5L motor, roof racks, blind spot, Bluetooth, navigation, 40-20-40 rear split fold down seating, comfortable cloth seating, sunroof.....all of the above were better than the CX-3 in comparison "
Value Ranked 2014 Mazda CX-5 Touring better.
"The over all size of the car, even with comparable features, bells and whistles as the CX-3, you just seem to get more from one car. If you purchase the. CX-3, you are kind of limited to just one type of vehicle use, grocery getter, golf club assistant, commuter.... You don’t really have a “stepping up” option to this car. Where as the CX-5, you can step down to the same type, and role as the CX-3 pretty much, so it’s really two vehicle types in one car, overall rating wise."
Would Buy Ranked 2014 Mazda CX-5 Touring better.
"We meant to by the CX-3 for the looks and similar body size to the older Rav4 SUV my daughters first car displayed. Upon test driving both, and matching the cargo spacing needs, and performance, the CX-5 is just a better SUV overall. So I am unbiased, until you test them side by side, you really can’t judge them."

Good power, good styling, and good handling. Other than that its a little to small. Only a 4 person vehicle and not so many options.

Cargo Capacity Ranked 2015 Nissan Rogue SL AWD better.
"CX-3 is a smaller vehicle, therefore smaller cargo area. You can lay down the seats for a little extra room. Nissan Rogue SL has more than enough ways to load cargo into rear of vehicle. With 2 dividers you can have 3 levels of storage, and with fold down rear seats easily fit whatever you need. "
Would Buy Ranked 2015 Nissan Rogue SL AWD better.
"I would choose the Nissan Rogue SL AWD over the Mazda CX-3 Grand Touring for the gas mileage and room for 5 people. "
