2013 Ford Explorer — Use this car for Law Enforcement . It handles really well. Has lots of space. Rides well. Rear visibility is poor due to the large pillars behind rear doors. Have not tested the off road capabilities. Stereo absolutely thumps! Love it. Only getting around 16 mpg average. It shifts smooth and stays fairly straight under hard acceleration. Overall I like it. I have put around 25,000 miles on it now and it is still doing really well. Like I said above, this car is used for police work but it is a regular explorer. I have been in a couple pursuits with it and it will hang with the other cars. 115-120 mph is about the top speed. It handles great. Have not had any problems. It does really well as a daily driver. I spend hours and hours in it. My initial pros and cons still stand. I would have expected better mpg. That is why the dept. Got this vehicle as opposed to the Expedition. I have an Expedition as a personal vehicle and get 15 mpg from it and it is the limited EL version. I have an update. At around 34,000 miles I noticed the paint bubbling around the lip of the hood. I took it to Ford and they fixed it under warranty. The body shop guys said it was a common problem because the hood and rear hatch were aluminum. I had some friends with the same year explorers and we checked theirs and they both also had the paint bubbling around the lip or edge on the front of the hood. Something to watch for.

    Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Looks nice, handles well, awesome stereo. AWD.

Cons: Poor gas mileage. Rear visibility. I have had this car for about 25k miles now. I average 16.6  mpg. Paint bubbled on hood at 34k miles.

Super Suv! — Loved this SUV. In fact, I'm getting another one (2014 or 2015)! Preferred to drive it over our second car, which is a sporty and fun-to-drive 300Z. Leather and 4WD a big plus but not "must haves". Like the back up camera and hands-free SYNC. All rear seats fold forward flat for maximum cargo room. Sterling gray metallic color hides dirt and weathers well.

    Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Power, cargo capacity, comfort, safety, aesthetics, dependable

Cons: Not many. Maybe fuel economy (vs smaller cars). I get 19mpg on average.

Very Nice Remake Of The Explorer And 4wd Handles All Of My Offroad Needs — overall great remodel of the explorer, rides much better than the older series from the conversion to a crossover line. It is roadtrip comfortable as well as off-road capable, meets my dual purpose needs perfectly. The quality of Ford's vehicle is better than I have ever seen before. Well done Ford!

    Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: very happy with the new Explorer series. Handles great and nice power.

Cons: Step up is pretty high to get into the vehicle, drivers side arm rest is a little distance for a truly comfortable ride.  If I were a larger person it may be a non-issue

Best Vehicle I Have Ever Owned — I like everything about the Ford Explorer . My favorite is the technology , so far advanced compared to the competition . I read reviews on the MyFord touch that were negative . Maybe if you are like 80 years old and hate technology . If you are a tech head like me Ford is the only way to go ...

    Primary Use: Family transportation

    Pros: Everything

Cons: Nothing everything works great and it handles like a dream

Nice Looker — A great improvement in interior design and grade of materials. A few more amenities I would suggest, heated second row seats, more cup holders, ambient lighting around the headliner, second row adjustable seats. Bottom line, this is a very nice suv, but the competition is closing the gap, when it comes to features for investments.

    Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Ruby Red with polished wheels, a real looker. This car drives very nicely on dry pavement. Almost no road noise, handles great on a long trip or around town trying to park and all of the in outs.

Cons: I was hoping the MPG would be closer to the 27 than the 19 overall average. If  you do any snow driving be sure to get the AWD option. It doesn't do the snow AT ALL on the FWD option.

Love It. — My who family is impressed with this car. It makes for a great family vehicle, gets decent gas milage for its size, has a great sound system, and drives very smooth. I would suggest this vehicle to anyone who wants style, class, and room enough for at least a family of 5.

    Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: This is a great family car. It has third row seating witch my family needs, is very stylish, handles great, and drives very smooth.

Cons: small cargo area in back, and Microsoft powered radio (SYNC system) gets slow after a while. I am an apple fan and wish they would utilize apple's technology.

Super All-around Suv! — Great family SUV. Lots of cargo room and passenger comforts. Love the leather, roof rack and 4WD upgrades as well as SYNC and Bluetooth features. Drives nice, solid handling. Liked it so much, getting another one (2014-2015). Take one for a test drive!

    Pros: Everything

Cons: Not many. Fuel (vs smaller cars). I average 19mpg overall.

Great Family Car, Eager Tow-machine — I dont like the gas mileage. everything else is perfect. beautiful design, leather, quality composition, great sound system. rides beautifully and handles like a sport car. I recommend this for families looking for road trip fun and journeys to the mountains, beach, and lake.

    Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Spacious, Feature-Rich, much more affordable than comparable Porsche Cayenne, more powerful, and more loaded dollar-for-dollar. Great on gas for what it is.

    Cons: Not much
