Best Suv!! — Awesome vehicle for the big and tall family. Plenty of "pick up and go." Not a "boxy" looking vehicle. Roomy and plush. Stylish and dependable. Now my husband wants his own. Dodge Durango Crew rocks! Can't go wrong with this vehicle.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Great vehicle.  Smooth ride and roomy interior.

Cons: None.

New Durango Is Sweet! — Can bring the whole family with three rows, great fit and finish, great cargo capacity and towing capacity. Everyone together and towing my boat with Hemi power! It's hard to beat. Makes my old Durango seem just old. This is a vast improvement and we love it.

Pros: Great power, size, towing capacity. Fit and finish is awesome big improvement over previous Durangos

Cons: Honestly can't come up with much. Key batteries died pretty quick. Fuel economy but hey it's a Hemi and tows my boat I didn't expect great gas mileage.

Powerful Family Hauler —

In Europe we don't have many options for 7seating. All the tiny asian or Opel Zafira's are a joke in manner of space and comfort and you have to pay much more for the same options which you have standard in the Durango. The sound of the Hemi is so nice. I enjoy it every thay to start it. However it could have some more power. 360HP for a 2,500kg car is on the lower side to call it SportUV. This car would be the best example of a V8 Supercharger combo. Especially with the, I have to say, lousy 6 speed tranny. Who has decided to have this poor ratios. 1st Gear to til 80km/h and 2nd till 130km/h? That's a waste of power as on hilly roads (we live in Switzerland) requires you to floor it all the time. This however will throw you in 1st Gear where you can accelerate to 80km/h and than it falls completly on its face on a 10% ascending road. If you are above 60km/h it will not downshift and therefore you are slow as a slug. I/ve never driven such a badly geared tranny. That's the most annoying and disappointing thing on the car but as well the only really sad thing. With better gearig the fuel economy would be much better too, soo this point is related to the bad tranny point. Besides that I love this car. It gives you huge cargo area and is able to handle 7 persons. I would buy it everytime again, especially if it would have the 8 speed which will come for the V6 ;-)

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: - Price
- Power (V8 Hemi)
- Low maintenance costs
- Low Range AWD

Cons: - Tranny ratios bad (2nd gear till 80mph? WHY?)
- Fuel economy could be better
- Vehicle weights to much

It's A Beast — I like this car (despite the poor fuel economy) because it has every new gadget on it - and they all work well - it has a masculine interior that I like, and it is stout enough to pull 7,400 lbs. So, I can feel secure in it, look good in it, and pull my heavy trailer on weekends. Oh yeah, the ventilated front seats blow cool air up my rear on hot days....

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Athletic
Strong

Cons: Lousy mileage.

2012 Dodge Durango Crew AWD Review
Craig says:
We were not originally looking at the Durangos. They have had some issues with the past body style. We were strongly considering the Nissan Pathfinder. The Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander are overpriced and a too much of a yuppie vehicle for us. But once we test drove the Pathfinder, my wife knew it wasnt the vehicle for her. So we were looking for other options. Did some research and found that the current body style Durango had received large (mechanical) improvements over the previous generation. I am a stickler for reliability. We run our vehicles over 200k+ miles before we pass then off. So all the fancy user tech that the manufacturers put into the vehicle is not as big of an incentive for us. We also briefly considered the little brother of the Durango, the journey. They can share the same engine and transmission. But after an examination of the engine bay of the Journey compared to the Durango, the choice was easier. Even though they have the same engine, the amount of room to service it is considerably different. Which makes sense since the Durango is a larger vehicle. But I cringe thinking about how many cuss words would be flying if I had to work on the motor in the Journey. So we landed on the Durango. The Durango may not be as good of a value as the others that we looked at, but there is also a reason why we were not considering the Toyota Yaris either. The vehicle is a better fit for our needs and lifestyle.
