I Love Driving This Car And Feel Very Safe — Maintenance costs covered for the full first four years or 80000 kilometers so this has been a real bonus from day one. Amazing car to drive one of the best SUV's on the market. BMW has impeccable service standards you wont be disappointed. Feels sporty and comfortable to drive at the same time.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: very comfortable reliable vehicle. Great family car and for road trip. Lots of storage Diesel so good fuel economy

Cons: Really cannot think of any negatives

Solid 10 — The x5 defiantly has some pep for what would be called a 'mom car'. The handling is also top notch for a Sports Activity Vehicle. This is about as fun to drive as any SUV could be. It competes with the best, thats for sure.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Love the looks and driving performance.

Cons: Fair gas mileage if i keep my lead foot toned down. Comfort isn't the main priority although it is not uncomfortable.

2012 Bmw X5 50i Sport Black/black — Couldn't be happier with this ride, which I bought slightly used less than a year ago. Look forward to driving it for years. Extremely powerful, fun to drive, comfortable, roomy, sturdy, and very driver friendly - but sucks gas when driven aggressively.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Solid ride and fun to drive.

Cons: Sucks gas.

Best Suv On The Road — I have owned several BMW's this is one of the best! the 35d has incredible power and fuel economy, I average (in real life) 24 MPG that is incredible for an SUV and it has more power than our 3car and handles equally as good. BMW should have brought these diesels into the US market years ago! I would recommend the 35d to anyone. I give BMW 5stars for this X5

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Great vehicle, more than enough power, fuel economy is fantastic, & handles like a car.

Cons: none

Perfect Performance Oriented Family Vehicle! — The X5 just keeps getting better. The 50i has the same performance/acceleration as my 335. This is one FAST SUV! Don't get me wrong, it's big and heavy, but it performs like a car half its weight. What's more, the 50i uses less fuel than the 4.8 it replaced! It's better, faster and more fuel efficient. Perfect performance oriented family vehicle! I love it!

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Awesome family performance SUV!

Cons: Nothing -- this car rocks!

Everything A Family Vehicle Should Be —

I recently bought this vehicle for my expanding family. I test drove many vehicles before deciding on the BMW X5. Here is what I like about it. The driving position and seat is excellent for this type of vehicle and the vehicle's dynamics are much better than most competitors. The steering is not terribly communicative but it is more precise than I expected from a vehicle this heavy. The brake feel is good, but I can't really comment on their performance at this point. This is the first vehicle with an automatic transmission I have owned, and I'm less bothered by it than I expected. Gear changes are smooth and quick, and the 8-speed is a great mate for the N55 (3.0L T I6) engine. The interior is bright (with the sunroof shade drawn) and spacious. My parents visited recently and the X5 accommodated four adults and a car seat with the wee one in comfort. The engine is strong and smooth, and makes a good sound when you put your foot into it. I tried the xdrive50 (with the 4.4L TT V8) and decided the xdrive35 is a better match for schlepping around town. I really like the iDrive control; I find it fast and intuitive. Fit and finish is good and the vehicle is quiet and comfortable at any speed. What didn't I like? The steering is a bit heavy at low speeds. This wouldn't be bad if it were more communicative, but it's not, especially with respect to on-centre feel. Some of the plastic feels and sounds cheap when you touch it. I think VW does a better job of this, even in the Golf. Another thing VW does better is ergonomics of control knobs and buttons. BMWs seem to lack consistency of how controls work and how they look and feel. Some controls, for example the volume/power knob for the audio system looks and feels quite different from the other controls. Contrast this with VW, who make every control look and feel exactly the same. Also, the back seat is a bit low (or the seat is a bit short). This is nit-picking; for the most part, I really like it.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Engine is smooth and powerful
Chassis offers good balance between comfort and feel
Interior is a really pleasant place to be

Cons: Ergonomics are inconsistent
Heavy and uncommunicative steering at low speeds
Low rear seat

A Blast To Drive. — The exhaust note on this car is incredible. The car moves swiftly and if you want it to will scream down the road like an uncaged animal. All of the aspects of the car are what you would expect when you purchase a BMW of this caliber. As far as SUV's go it doesnt get much better, except for maybe the M version.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: This car is a blast to drive and has incredible power. It is incredibly comfortable and brings the quality that you would expect out of a BMW of this class. The only cons would most likely be gas mileage but lets face it 400 horsepower and 20 MPG is pretty good all things considered and if you can afford to get the car ar you concerned about the MPG?

Cons: Reliability: wipers quit working in the middle of a road trip and had the injectors go bad $$$. These cars are too expensive to fix and shouldn't break down like that

Beautiful X5, Finds A New Home! — I thought the vehicle was so much fun to drive, and handled like a dream on dry roads. I do a lot of mountain driving and noticed, When there was snow, ice or even rain on the roads, the vehicles ability to hug the roads, diminished greatly. I even purchased brand new tires at 27,000 miles hoping for better handing, but was sadly disappointed. I also needed a larger vehicle. The third row was unacceptable for an adult, and hardly fit my 9 year old.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: This was a beautiful vehicle and I loved the exposure Car Gurus provided.   One of my favorite features is the instant value dollar amount.   Helps pin down a great price

Cons: Third row was useless for anyone with legs!
