2009 GMC Yukon Hybrid RWDReview
urbietorbi writes:
A Good First Try — Overall ride is smooth and has the typical engine killing quietness of a hybrid. Versus a standard Yukon, I cannot see a discernable fuel savings though. Switching to full engine is great as power is maintained. Handling and ride are fine. Noise is good, except for battery interior noise. back up camera well designed. Radio display could be reconfigured, but nice to have central touchscreen area. GMC could've done a better job with the battery location. It is directly under the middle row seats, which means only the backs of the seats fold up or down. This is versus a standard Yukon, where the entire seats fold into the floorboard. The third row seats were re-designed with a pull out handle, which was designed to make it easy to pull them out, but it takes enormous effort to remove them. This reduces the overall storage in the truck by half of that in the standard Yukon. Having owned the standard and hybrid Yukon, GMC knows trucks, but seems to have taken a step back in overall design to accomodate the hybrid crowd. Having said this, the truck still delivers the power and looks that are a tradition to the Yukon. Primary Use: Family transportation Pros: looks great, smooth ride, lots of power, feel good alternative to typical gas guzzling SUV Cons: Battery placed unergonomically under middle row seats, rear seat worst design ever to remove, no sunroof option |
