Write a reviewThe 2008 Saturn VUE features a fresh design, borrowed from GM's European counterpart, Opel, as well as a wide range of engine choices and trim packages. The compact VUE SUV is also available in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions.
The base VUE is a front-wheel-drive vehicle with an inline 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine that produces 164 horsepower, an increase of 20 horsepower over the previous year's four-cylinder engine. The four-cylinder is dropped into the entry-level XE trim package.
The XE trim package also is available in an all-wheel-drive model with a 3.5-liter, 222-horsepower V6 engine.
Stepping up a notch, the XR trim package is available as either a front-wheel-drive or all-wheel drive model, with a 3.6-liter, 245-horsepower V6 engine and a six-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission.
At the top of the line is the Red Line trim package, in front-wheel or all-wheel-drive, with a sportier design package and a 3.6-liter, 245-horsepower V6 engine.
Standard features throughout the Saturn VUE lineup include four-wheel anti-lock brakes, dual-stage front airbags, and a six-speaker AM/FM stereo system with a CD player and an MP3 input jack.
Other features include rack-and-pinion steering, traction control, a keyless entry system, cruise control, and daytime running lights.

The car was sold AS IS. It had to be deeply detailed but it is wonderful for the price and features. I am sure there are minor problems to address but for the most part a great car for daily use.Jun 12, 2020

My partner and I bought our 2008 Saturn Vue XR V6 about 2 months ago. We have loved the vehicle and it has aged well considering it's going on 7 years old and had 75K miles when we bought it.
All the right features: premium audio, sunroof, leather/heated seats, rain sensing wipers, etc. The size is just right for us and the engine is strong and smooth.
However, about a month after buying it (and fortunately a $0 deductible powertrain warranty), we noticed the transmission slipping. The warranty company hadn't even processed the paperwork yet. Per the forum on this site, we directed them to the 3-5-R plate which was broken. I write this on our second day having it home and I already noticed slipping around 20 mph. I will be calling the dealer tomorrow.
In our 6 weeks with the Vue, we have loved having it. I am hoping to get this settled and we will be able to be done with repairs for some time. I am happy we went with the extended warranty as we still have 98K miles and 5 years left!Jan 16, 2015

We bought this vehicle with 38,000 miles. Ride is somewhat buoyant and acceleration with the 2.4 Ecotec is just adequate. Fuel mileage is good: 22 around town, 26 highway. Noise inside the cabin can be intrusive at higher speeds and GM must have realized that when they installed a radio with the capability of getting louder as you drive faster! Fit and finish appears good and of substantial quality (for plastic anyway, leather seats feature a very heavy grade of leather). Towing capacity isn't much with the 4 cylinder (1500 lbs) but it handles my 5x10 lawn trailer with ease. May 22, 2014

As soon as the warranty runs out then the car will stop working. Be prepared to spend a extra 4500 on your car sticker price to replace the transmission. Maybe there is a reason the company went out of business. May 10, 2014

The front seats make a lot of noise when sitting on them, because frame and springs are defective. Transmissions wave plates break easily under normal use causing costly repair. The struts make a creaking and clicking sound when turning. The steering column makes a rubbing sound. Apr 20, 2014

This vehicle has great performance with accereration, great braking and handling. Driving this vehicle was fun and under control no problem. I'm a golfer so with that said I was extremely happy the open hatch, there is enough room for golf clubs and extra items.Jun 08, 2013

Great overall SUV but the 4 Cly is just not strong enough when mated to
the 4 speed automatic transmission. Excellent braking and steering. No
repairs in the first 2 years. Quiet and comfortable ride, great handling,

I bought my Saturn Vue Red Line with about 19,000 on it. So far it's been great. Handles very nicely, love the interior and storage capicity is more than I hoped for. Speaking of storage, make sure you ask for a trunk liner for the back. It's just a nice practical piece that's standard with these cars but can save some wear and tear to the interior. Gas mileage (if my calc is right), is slightly lower than advertised and for some reason the dashboard rattles slightly on occasion. A little annoying, but not a deal breaker. I love it! It is small yet big enough to do travelling.....
The only downside is that with all our luggage now and a new addition to the family our Rotti cannot come on our trips to Edmonton!

Great car, It is all you can ask for in a gm sports SUV the tap shift makes driving interactive and can be used by all, only thing that needs to be added is a sunroof standard and a more integrated driver information center with mpg and tire pressure like on our g6 other then that great car with a ton of fun features, The body kit also is a nice feature that always turns heads

For a SUV this truck is built solid. Its reliable. You put your foot down and it goes! You take it off road and it goes! You fill the tank and the gas goes! This vechile is amazing but the only complaint I have about it, is that with the 6cyl it uses gas far faster then I am used to. PCV tube fitting sits loose where it connects into air filter duct
I pulled the engine plastic cover off to check the power steering fluid and was surprised to notice that my PVC line that attaches at the top of the valve cover and then attaches into the air filter duct work right before the throttle body was incredibly loose where it attaches into the air filter duct work. It appears that after all these years/miles(100,300 miles) that oil coming into contact with the rubber air duct has made the air duct swell in that area and now where the fitting goes into it, it is loose. There is no design on the duct to have a clamp go around the fitting to hold it tight(seems like a bad design). Anyhow, how should I go about fixing this, because their is such a large gap I would think I have been sucking in pretty large particles for who knows how long. The part is like $70 for new duct work and I don't feel like spending that much money just to fix this. Would adding some RTV around it to better seal it fix it? Anyone else run into this issue? Or have you even checked this, knowing it is somewhat hidden by the engine cover? This is for the 3.6L LY7.

Transmission failure 2008 Saturn Vue
Everybody should know that the transmission warranty on this a six speed unit has been extended to 10 years/100+ thousand miles. I called my Vin number to Jim see you when I had a catastrophic transmission failure, and they confirmed that I was in #Warranty until October 2018. It is currently in the dealership shop undergoing repairs/replacement as I speak. They say it is under Full warranty and I will not be charged. They have also given me a Loaner car since the repairs are under warranty. If you have a transmission failure and get it fixed on your own, then there’s nothing they can do to help you.

Is there a problem with 2008 saturn vue transmission
I have a 2008 Saturn Vue with a 3.5 liter v6 and the six speed transmission. I have been having problems with it while in first gear. The transmission will make a noise and not move , then all of a sudden it will go and shift normally. This has happened to me twice now in the past two days. I am afraid it will be needing major repairs which I do not have the money for. That's why I bought it, so I wouldn't have to worry about repairs for quite awhile. Wondering if there is a known problem with these types of Transmissions
