2006 Lincoln LS Preview summaryImage

Lincoln's sporty luxury sedan pares down its trim lineup this year to, well, a Sport V8. Built on a Jaguar platform, the rear-wheel drive 2006 Lincoln LS adopts exterior styling from last year's LSE, including a chrome grille, body-colored moldings, and round foglights. It also gets larger 17-inch wheels. The powertrain remains the same -- a 3.9-liter, 280-hp V8 that delivers 286 lb-ft of torque with a 5-speed shiftable automatic.

Though rear legroom can be cramped, the sport sedan seats four, with split-folding rear seats. The interior is plush, with standard leather seats, power front seats with memory, dual-zone climate control, a CD player, and heated mirrors and wipers. There are a variety of nice options, like a sunroof, navigation system, parking assist, power adjustable pedals, and heated seats, available in either the Elite or Premium bundles. Another nice touch is a THX option for the sound system.

The 2006 LS is equipped with a sport suspension, ABS brakes, traction control, brake assist, and dual front airbags. Side curtain bags are optional, along with AdvanceTrac stability control. Sport seats are not offered, however, so though the interior is comfortable, the driver may get knocked around a bit if taking it out for a true sporty ride. Owners seem to like the upscale comfort, the V8 power, and the smooth handling, but complain about the low fuel economy and lack of manual transmission in a sports sedan. The 2006 LS is Lincoln's most affordable car.

Ill start off with this is the 3rd LS for me. I’ve had a 2003, 2006, , and now another 2006. I thought every one was great. No major problems at all, especially considering it’s age. All 3 cars didn’t have more than 110,000 miles., which of course helps. In my opinion, I believe the 2006 model has most of the problems worked out that earlier models experienced, but as I said, I never had any problems with anyone of them. It’s a hell of a kick to drive. The power of course is well known, but it’s tracking and suspension is amazing. My friend commented that when he took a corner it felt like it was on rails. If you can find a 2006 with less than 120,000 miles and it’s reasonable, do it. You might be wondering about the insurance. I always get the full coverage. Yes would think because of their age insurance wouldn’t pay what the real market is., but in my case you’d be wrong. A year ago I paid $5000 for a 2006 with 105, 000 miles. Last month I was driven off the fast lane of Hwy 8 down a 25’ ravine. The front tires were torn off and I skidded to a stop. I crawled out the passenger door+, my Door was caved in from swiping a 6’ bolder. Had a few minor cots on my exposed shins, but that was all My insurance surprised me. After my $500 deductible, I was awarded $6,700. LS,s are great investments. Lol Jul 24, 2021
