If the dealer or car does not have a full maintenance record. I wouldnt buy it. Especially on these cars. I have owned 2 Ferrari and 2 Porsches. Always have had service records to the birth of the car.

I previously owned a 2003 Ferrari 360 Modena and then bought a lower mileage 2006 Ferrari F430 Couple with the F1 transmission. The F1 transmission on the F430 is a BIG improvement from the 360 that I had previously. The handling, acceleration, all were superior in the F430 as compared. The 360s styling is very attractive and it was my first Ferrari. I am glad that I was able to compare from an owners point of view and both served me well. The maintenance cost is low since there is no timing belt on the F430 like the 360. The F430 has a timing chain and the annual fluid changes are very reasonable. Be sure to have a full PPI (Pre Purchase Inspection) at a Ferrari Service location that can go all through it for you. Ask them to do a clutch snap report to see how much clutch is left on the transmission assuming it is an F1 and not a manual transmission. The driving experience is really like no other IMO, and once I come home to the garage I have a smile on my face and look forward to going out the next time. It is a joy to own and drive.

Ferrari F430 — It really is a beautiful car. But my main goal is to have an Enzo and this is hopefully a step closer to getting one. I never expected to have one so early. This car is so fun to drive and I mean just hearing that engine and all that power gets me in trouble sometimes.

Pros: Great sounding car, fast as hell, great craftsmanship, I get girls with it.

Cons: Too damn expensive

Great. — I drove this car at Thruxton - it was a brilliant, sharp handling and very fast car. It was easy to get in and drive fairly quickly, and has great feel through the steering wheel and seat. Every piece of information was fed back, and every input was translated into movement on the track. It also made a fabulous noise on full throttle!

Pros: Very focused performance machine - it felt sharper than the Porsche 996 Turbo and Lambo Murcielago LP640.

Cons: Would probably be tiring to drive on a motorway - but then, who cares?

Ferrari ... It Says It All, Doesn't It? —

Ahhh, the F430 .... I know that an even better version (the Scuderia) was launched recently but it's hard to believe that it can improve this already perfect car. Perfect, really? Well, no of course, but not that far! Where do I start? I mean, this car leaves you over-excited, and it is hard to explain it, to translate the feelings into words ... so I'd just say that the F430 was a pure wonder. Yes, if it starts raining you'd be smashed by the Gallardo, and yes it's no so brilliantly built as the Lambo (let alone the Porsche) but the driving experience ... it beggars belief! The steering is much lighter that on the Lambo, and much more accurate at the same time. The brakes, the throttle response, the F1-system sequential gearbox all work in perfect harmony to give you the feeling to be Michael Schumacher. And the sound of that V8 is spine-tingling: not as civilized as the V10 in the Gallardo, but that wilderness feels sooo goood!!! On the road, it was fantastic, and very confortable. The manetinno was in SPORT mode and I never lose even a bit of grip, no matter how fast (very, very, very fast sometimes) I was going into the corners. Then, on the track, in RACE mode, it was in a class of its own. Just like with the Gallardo, I did not spin it once. Ok, ok, the E-diff was probably helping more than my driving skills but the fact is that this car knows how to appeal to the amateurs. Unfortunately, I was so excited that I forgot to switch off completely the system before I had to pull over, so I can't tell you how it feels without electronic aids, but what I can tell you is that in RACE mode, it was the best handling car I've ever driven, period!

Pros: The brand name, the overall experience ... pretty much everything actually!

Cons: Too expensive, impossible to use on the snow, beaten by the Nissan GTR.

Ultimate For Amateur Racers — this car was built for one purpose... to go fast every aspect of this car was derived from Ferrari F1 technology and it shows when ur driving this beauty, if it's straight line acceleration or handling those stricky "S"-curves
