The 2003 Vw Gti — Overall this car is a nice peppy ride, it's quick but I would'nt say it's fast. It's a great young person car as it get's good gas mileage and has plenty of space with the hatchback and fold down seats to pack a fair amount of stuff. The handling is good for a FWD econo car with a little more pep then your average hatchback in America. Problems do begin at the higher miles due to wear and tear, expect additional problems with the automatic versions.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Quick car with good low end power. Good MPG

Cons: Parts can be expensive and issues begin at 100,000 miles. Expect to replace various parts after 100,000 (Timing belt, fuel pump, fuel filter, coilpacks, coolant temp sensor, oildipstick tube, etc.)

Best Little Car I Have Owned — This car never let me down...great commuter car with awesome fuel econ and fun to drive. Very sporty and fun. Fast and sharp. Would drive this car to the end of the earth and back...handles well. If performance and realiability are what you are in need of ...VW has done it with this one.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: great fuel economy, fast, realiable and sporty.

Cons: not for a family...lol

Fun And Fast. — Actively searched for this model and year. The engine is fantastic, as I mainly use this for track/autocross use. Car can take the abuse and the engine is able to hold at least double the factory HP, with just a few mods.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Very fun, enjoyable car.  Fit and finish is fantastic.

Cons: Can be unrealiable at times.

Best Car Ever — I love this car just as much as I did the day I drove it off the lot. In fact, I feel just as "cool" driving it today at age 34 as I did when I bought it at age 24. This car is simply beautiful. I still get stopped by people almost every time I go out because they comment on the color or the "like new" look of my GTI. I've never seen another car this color. VWs Jazz Blue is simply stunning... At the age of 10, I still can catch a wheel in 3rd gear, beat most of these idiot teenagers off the line, and get up to 120 mph on the highway if I want to and she feels the same as she did when she was 1. Most of my friends are buying BMWs and "Dad Cars", but I want to keep this forever. I only have a 2 car garage though..hopefully I can make that mil real soon, get a house with a 3 car garage, car cover this baby and keep her forever..

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Everything.  Looks, power, handling - this car has it all.

Cons: It's really hard to get my 2 month old in and out of the back seat..

20ae — This car is a great little commuter car for the enthusiast. Came with sport body kit, sport wheels, suspension, brakes and interior trim. Car is fun and quick. Just very small, but you want a GTI you know what youre getting. 150k miles and still going strong.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Fun little car.  Great for VW enthusiasts.  Car styling is great.  1.8t engine very reliable

Cons: small

Hot Looks Plus Super-fun To Drive Is A One-two Punch Ko — Best-looking hatchback on the market, in my opinion. Better design than Audi, Lexus or any other hatchback you can buy. Love the interior trim as well. I really wish VW would go back to this look for their brand new GTIs -- the new GTIs still look slightly Japanese. And nobody wants them -- witness VW's 0% APR financing offers for their new cars. That's why older models are more valuable, in my opinion.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Most fun to drive / best-looking combo in this price range

Cons: Not a Porsche, super-stiff suspension not so good for bad concrete or old people

03 Gti, Everyday Fun And Still Getting 32 Mpg. — 1.8t turbo with 6 speed manual. Great car in factory trim, but it has so much potential waiting to get out. Acceleration is good with a solid powerband. Factory turbo running at 21psi with no lag. It does seem to run out of breath at approx 5500rpm.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: good at everything (daily driving, autox, track racing, drag racing)

Cons: though it does everything well, it does not dominate in any one catagory.
