This car is a blast to drive. I traded a G35 for it and although the Infiniti had it of really nice features the fact that this car puts a smile on my face every time I look at it or drive it makes it well worth it. Sep 21, 2020

There is absolutly nothing I dislike about this car. It is great on gas, fun to play around in ,fast and overall great car! I searched for years to find the buglight wrx and I would not trade it for anything.Jul 11, 2014

I appreciate how this vehicle blends reasonable performance with daily drivability and practicality in an effortless fashion. Fashion, or looks, on the other hand, is not this car's strong suit, but I like it better that way. The plain interior and exterior is very cut and dry, with no superfluous stuff that makes it feel cluttered. It is, through and through, a family-friendly rally car, and I love it. Apr 11, 2013

Loads of fun to drive regardless of weather. Does alright for the miles per gallon. If you ever so happen to have to sleep in your car, the front seats are decently comfortable if put down flat. Would buy again.Dec 16, 2011

My only dislike is the lack of a 6 speed manual, factory HID projectors, and heated seats. Otherwise I can't complain about 24.5 mpg with spirted driving. Could handle a little better around corners, but nothing sway bars can't do. Parts cost more for subaru's, but they generally are stupid easy to work on.Dec 01, 2010

I love it. It's FAST. The turbo on the car spools at a low RPM so you have power pretty quickly. The car's transmission is incredibly weak though. I love to drive the car because of how fun it is.Oct 12, 2010

ive had this car for about 4 to 5 months now and so far ive had no problems yet, its fast off the line and pulls through the gears well, turns tightly with minimal oversteer and over all is just a well made vehicle.Oct 01, 2010

Handel's like a dream and just too much fun! Excellent acceleration Very solid, well-behaved, tight ride with little body lean, and not jittery or "rattly" at all. It reminds me of a BMW with sport suspension. Adjusting tire pressure allows you to choose between a more subdued ride and real road- hugging grip (I like 34 PSI). But the car is never soft and simply handles great. All-wheel drive means no wheel spin unless you really want it. Simply a superb car in the rain, even dashing through sitting water on the highway. So far I absolutely love this car. I bought the car stock, it handled and performed wonderfully. It is quick and solid. The maintenance on it is a little more expensive than the average car but well worth it. I have gotten anywhere from 22-29 MPG so far. This summer I have put on a full exhaust and installed UTEC for tuning. I can't wait for the upcoming winter! My next car will be another WRX or an STi if I can afford it.Sep 03, 2010

Awesome car for the money. Easy to handle due to AWD. Lots of power although lacking low end torque. The 2002 had little show but everything was functional. Make a great track and autocross car. Only problems were the wheel bearings and clutch which were common problems with that model.Apr 29, 2010

Over all the car is a great performer All Wheel Drive Turbo is the way to go!. I like the fully symmetrical All Wheel Drive system they have for all their Subaru's. Its a great quality car it hasn't had any problems except for routine maintenance.Dec 14, 2009

I love the car. It is peppy, handles well, responds well to modifications. I have had issues with it in terms of reliability, but it is a fun car, that is the point. Mileage is poor, and parts are expensive, though.Dec 11, 2009

Ultimate boy racer car out of the box, next step is to buy one as my midlife crisis car... fast, fun, safe, all weather stunt car. Cool scoop on the hood. Brakes with electronic brake distribution always stop straight, rain or shine, fun to get sideways with the right summer tires. 16mpg when having fun, 24 when easy on the gas. Tops out at 140 mph, probably electronic limit. Solid. Not too fragile, easy to service, fun in the mud and snow.Oct 18, 2009

AWD really rocks in the snow, the Tubo engine is fast and the boxer rumble is amazing. it comes with really comfortable stiff suspension and it's just perfect. it's really fun to drive if you really mod it and step on it, but it can't really take a lot of beating in the trannyJul 01, 2009

The 2002 Subaru WRX is one of those faces that you can grow to love over time, especially given its amazing performance. It boasts 0-60 acceleration times in the 5.6 to 6.0 seconds range, depending on what magazine test you read, as well as a variety of after market parts so you can modify its performance and handling to your tastes, mild to utterly insane (400+hp anyone?). It definitely has its quirks, in terms of appearance (bugeye lights) and handling (serious understeer with stock suspension) and features, but I'm definitely glad I've owned one. I just returned from a multi-state road trip and averaged 28mpg on the highway. Not bad for a car with 102k miles! Nothing sounds quite like it either - very unique! I highly recommend the 2002 WRX for someone looking for ample performance at a reasonable price.Dec 30, 2008

Subaru wrx is the best with AWD and turbo charged engine Acceleration is amazing. I have a bigger brake kit which stops like no other. Handling is awesome with the boxer engine. You get all this while still at 24mpg Its like a go kart to drive! Dec 26, 2008

When I drive the car it is like poetry in motion. I love everything about it. The pick up, the handling, and the way hugs the road. It is easy to work on, fun to drive, the girlfriend loves it too. Its a great car with both top performance and it still has great mileage.Sep 04, 2008

I love my car. Absolutely everything I wanted in a car. I admit, its not the top of the line, but its all i want without paying 3 years salary for a car. The handling and traction are everything. It is a rally car, it goes well on any surface. I've tested it hard on the back mountain roads of main without any complaint. Between its rally heritage and bulletproof reliability, there's simply no substitute for a Subaru. Especially in wagon trim, the WRX is enough of a sleeper so as not to attract the attention of the 5-0, but once the turbo spools, hang on. Equally at home on the racetrack or on a logging road.Aug 02, 2008

Bought new in May 2001. A good blend of performance and practicality. Has been very reliable with no major mechanical issues. Not the most fuel efficient due to AWD. If you want luxury and high style look elsewhere.Jul 11, 2008

performance wise the WRX is great comes stock with 220chp but with a few mods you can put out an easy 280. It has a relitively sporty interior, nice seats and a sweet Momo Steering Wheel. As far as far as price of ownership goes insurance will get you with a sports car cost but the MPG isnt bad stock once you do mods youll loose milage but it also all depends on what kind of driver you are. Fun Factor is unreal its soo much fun to drive all wheel drive makes the car hug turns and make it a blast to drive in the snow.Jul 01, 2008

Great bang for the buck, although nowadays most cars have 200+hp. This car is all about performance, if you want luxury go buy a Hyundai. Also, a great car to tune. I have upgraded the suspension as handling is most important to me, so I can blow by cars as they have to slow down for the curves.Jun 10, 2008

In the 80K miles I've put on this car it has required only minor maintenance, which is great considering how hard I drive. It has been 100% reliable and is fairly fun to drive (although 227hp doesn't do much for me anymore) and is a pretty decent AutoX car.Apr 12, 2008

The "bug eye" was Subarus first foray into the world of cutting edge design, and the WRX's first attempt to "grow up". The MY01 brought a stiffer chassis and improved interior features, but due to the polarising design and slightly worse acceleration times, it was poorly received by many fans. The MY02 as seen here received improved gear ratios and a suretrac rear LSD to address these issues, but in reality the issues hardly needed addressing anyway. The MY02 WRX is a seriously quick car, especially point-to-point on a twisty mountain road. All wheel drive traction gives it the edge off the line, out of corners, and everywhere if it's wet, and makes up for any lack lustre handling issues.Dec 19, 2007
