The 2001 Toyota Corolla saw a number of changes, including the discontinuation of the super base-level VE. In its place, Toyota introduced the sporty S model. The body was slightly restyled, with new front and rear ends, including headlights and taillights.
The 2001 Corolla came with an aluminum 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine. Fuel economy was about 31-38 mpg. The new S model came with a number of distinctive features, including unique wheel covers, foglights, intermittent wipers, new upholstery, a tachometer, and a faux leather-wrapped wheel. The CE was demoted to the base level, and the nicely-equipped LE rounded out the lineup.
Those who have purchased the 2001 Toyota Corolla praise it for its reliability and excellent fuel efficiency. Complaints include a too-small interior and not very many features in the lower-level trims.

I like the milaege , Handling and every thing about this car. Its easy on driving to long distances and still runs better than many new cars on the road. Look wise it still like new except some minor scratches.

I have a Toyota Corolla 2001 , which i love driving this car , very low maintenance , save on Gas and spare parts , very reliable always to support you . I love driving this car .

This car is an amazing gas safer. Reliable as a sun. Drives smoose and quite. Super easy in handling, parking. Love the sun roof. Easy in maintenance and cheap too. Does not requiared a lot of attention - just regular fuels change.Jan 08, 2013

Like any Corolla, it's a great economy car with the reliability to back up its name
and the economy and comfort expected from a star of its class. Performance
suffers when mated to the 3spd automatic-if you want one get a 5spd manual or
else IMO. Adding lowering springs is a welcome improvement to handling. Overall,
it's a great car for commuting, has nice looks, it's reliable, but could have been

Not a bad vehicle. it was very reliable. great on gas. the main complaint i have/had is the lack of room(5'11, 275lbs) parts were available almost anywhere and were affordable. would recommend to a friend (especially those of smaller stature)

Its good first car; and easy to manage. It is good for city trips and giving a ride to
one or two passengers. Being a small Toyota, it means that it is cheap to run as well as high reliability. I've been hit twice by fail drivers and it is still running like
new.

this is quite simply the greatest car that could ever be driven by anybody.
there isnt really much else that one can say about it. it is literally fast

Gets you where you need to go and even adds more cargo room than the current Toyota Corrola since the new Corrola is not as long but it is taller. The Mileage is great since it can last around 2 weeks on a tank of gas.Sep 06, 2010

Good on Fuel, A/C Cool, Heat Hot, winter, Summer driving. good on quality, ok on appearance, less maintenance, great on gas mileage, not really fun to drive but good for traveling. Front Discs break, rear drums breaks. No ABSNov 06, 2009

Economical, dependable, reliable. Probably the best car I've ever owned. Not a sports car by any stretch of the imagination, but has more than adequate power. Averages 33mpg city, 37mpg highway. Not as much fun as my Volvo 740 Turbo, but a nice balance of all categories.Sep 19, 2009

It was the best car within the same price range. both performace, build quality and apperance were average (but good enough for me). it was cheap to run, low maintenance. I have to mention that it has a big boot (relevently). Is it fun to drive? I was looking for comfortability and it has done fine for me.Aug 04, 2009

White 2001 Toyota Corolla S with black interior and 5-
speed manual transmission. Bought new, and it now has
about 99K miles. Surprisingly fun to drive with good ride
quality. Steering becomes loose at the limits of adhesion,
but feels natural and progressive up to 8/10ths, brakes
feel great, shifter isn't quite Honda snick-snick but still very
easy to operate. Seats are comfortable. Ergonomics are
great, with one notable exception--the three cupholders
are mediocre. The one cupholder in the rear is mounted on
the center console, and is useless--so shallow, drinks will
fly out over moderate cornering or bumps, and in the
front, larger drinks (e.g. medium sized fountain drinks) will
block access to the console and get in the way of the
shifter. Audio system is so-so. Fit is great for the class and
year, finish is about better than midpack, reliability is
stellar--I have not had a single issue that needed a trip to
the dealership, only performed routine maintenance and
accident repairs. And being an economy car, any
maintenance and repairs are cheap. I average about 32
mpg in the city and 38-40 on the highway. Road and wind
noise are moderate. Engine isn't quite BMW I6 creamy, but
it's relatively smooth.
Overall, highly recommended. Fun to drive, cheap and
hassle-free to operate. What more could one ask for?Jan 18, 2009

It is good for carring weight, sturdy and could handle some ruff treatment. The toyota wagon have a considerable amount of space for home/business it is a real asset.
I would recommend this vehicle to everyone that cannot afford a pickup but still need to transport anything and still have your vehicle personal use

Its an overall great car have no problems with it, bought it in april with 250000kms on it already, it now has 283000 and never spent a cent on the engine. It also have almost no rust at all on it. It has pretty good pick up for a 1.8L 4 door sedan. Braking system works good, only thing i payed to do to it so far was putting a donut gasket on the exhaust. The interior is in pretty good shape, and the exterior is also in great shape just alot of chips in the paint on the hood, fenders and bumpers from highway driving. The cost to own it is little to none, basically all i pay for is gas and oil for oil changes. It gets great gas mileage around 40mpg and i enjoy driving it and it is pretty fun to drive for a family car Oct 02, 2008

Performance: It's a simple little car and she runs well. You can't do anything crazy with her, but I enjoy driving her. Amazing turning radius.
Build Quality: The only work I've ever had to do on her is typical maintenance (she's at 113K right now).
Appearance: Nothing amazing, but still cute. Get one with a spoiler!
Cost of ownership: She gets 25-31 mpg and low maintenance costs, nearly $0 in repairs.
I think this is a great car for anybody that wants something simple and dependable.

The thing i love most about this car is that reliable.
Even now 7 years later, still works with out a glitch
and we have yet to do any major repairs. The
biggest problem that i've had with the car is when
a squirrel built a nest in the radiator grill. Its a 1.4
Ltr Petrol engine. Does 0-60 mph in bout 6-7
seconds. Nothin fancy but the reliability and
comfort is spot on for any car in its class. And it
isnt expensive either. Once i start college i hope to
trick it out with sum after market parts.
Brakes extremely well. Wont take coners at 100
mph but it handles quite well. Its a decent looking

The 2001 TOyota Corolla was built in a California plant by American workers. A reliable car with a small, but fairly peppy 1.8L VVTI engine, getting as high (from personal experience) as 41 mpg. The paint is in excellent shape, and it's fairly easy to repair. Most components are easily accesible under the hood, or underneath the car. Maintenance and upkeep are typical of any Toyota (tires, oil changes, brakes, etc), with minor need for major repairs. I've driven this car for about two years, purchased with 80,000 miles, it now has over 132,000 and has only had a Mass Airflow Sensor go bad, but still ran even then (just hard, and idle was rough). Body style was only out for two years, giving it a more unique look. Would make an excellent ricer car, or sleeper.Apr 10, 2008

The car has been very reliable, I have had no problems. I am getting between 32 and 36 mils to the gallon depending on the route I am taking. The back seats fold down giving me about 8 feet of storage. I have treated the little car as a truck, a snow plow, and a personel mover for 6 years. Nothing has been better. Jul 16, 2007
