Sturdy, reliable car. Interior wasnt that good as it wasnt soft leather. Inside looks a bit cheap and it is a fuel guzzler. Big room at the back. Good for kids. You are up high which is good but you are not as big as the grand cherokee. Handling of wheel for me is a little difficult in turning and blind spot check was shocking for me. I would not buy it again

Performance is good with the fuel injected, DIS 4.0 liter L6 engine,which solid as a rock. Being the final year of production, fit and finish is good and all the bugs have been exorcised from this model. Whats left is a good light duty truck with 4 wheel drive that still gets 20+MPG in the city/24 highway!

This is one vehicle I really regret ever getting rid of. I loved everything about it except the small-ish rear seat and poor rear seat entry thru the skinny doors. I rarely carried passengers though. The 4.0L I6 paired with the Aisin-Warner AW4 transmission made for a blazing fast combination in a vehicle this lightweight. It would shame many the unsuspecting sports car or "ricer" that tried racing me. The ride quality wasn't very good, but it's a Jeep...Who cares? They're not supposed to ride good! MPG was excellent. I averaged 20 MPG and that was with a somewhat heavy foot. The Jeep XJ Cherokee in my opinion was one of the most indestructible vehicles ever produced, and I was saddened when they replaced it with the ugly "me too" SUV called the Liberty.

I bought my Jeep in the fall of 2005 with just under 100,000 miles on it. Loved becuase of its complact size and excellent mileage for a suv. Now have been driving it for almost 3 years and it is still running strong. Have never had to perform and maintenance on it other than periodical oil changes, brakes and tires. Very cost effective vehicle for a college guy!! Excellent in winter as well!

Very good low end torque from the 4.0 liter in-line 6 cylinder, and is damn near bomb proof. Fuel mileage isn't the greatest, but to be expectied for an SUV made for running through ruts and rough trails. Off road this truck is almost unstoppable with the right set of tires under it and feels right at home bumper deep in mud.

BEST TRUCK EVER. If you want a simple four wheel drive that will get you anywhere you want, buy it. Cheap to own, fun to drive, aftermarket is huge for this vehicle. Gas mileage could be better at 21 mpg on the highway, but we only live once.

This is my Aunt's SUV, originally owned by my Uncle. I merely rode in it a couple times. It is a 2001 model with not even 40,000 miles on it, and it is in beautiful shape! It is a very nice, but very snug vehicle, at least for a 6-foot tall guy. The engine is the rock solid 4.0 liter Inline-6 engine mated to an automatic transmission. The handling is responsive enough, but being a Jeep, it is very truck-like in terms of the ride. The interior is comfortable enough, but still rather tight, and the backseat is very cramped for someone my size. I even have trouble getting through the back doors because they are kind of narrow. The Jeep has power windows and locks, cruise control, etc, as well as an aftermarket CD player with an iPod hookup. The vehicle was formerly owned by the Japanese Consolate or something, and it was purchased by some guy for his daughter, who later sold it to pay for his daughters college. My uncle was the one he sold it to. My uncle had too many cars and sold the Jeep to his twin sister after her 1998 Chevy Monte Carlo was totaled. The funny thing about this Jeep is that it does not have 4-wheel drive. I absolutely love Jeep Cherokees, but my only complaint is the "snug" interior. Also, my uncle powdercoated a set of older Jeep wheels to match the paintjob and put them on this truck. There is one other fault that you will see in the negatives section.

From day one its needed nothing but the usual maintenence. It gets about 20 miles to the gallon on the highway so its not too expensive to drive. Its an offroad champ stock! No need for a lift or bigger tires, ive yet to get stuck on rocks or mud

amazing torque and just enough horses to beat most inline 4's i would recommend this car to anyone who likes to off road gas mileage truly depends on how your drive it i get 20 mpg but most get 15-19 So much fun to drive and burnout using a power brake and just roast the tires
