Purchased this truck for a pretty good deal when I was needing the ability to travel up to the California woods with a lot of equipment. Loved having the 5.4 V8 despite the high gas cost. It was always reliable and ready to take on any kind of road conditions. Surprised by the low miles for a 2000 vehicle. Cost of maintenance is pretty low since it's Ford and one of the most common trucks out there. Hate to see it go but I'm just not needing it anymore in Kansas City.Feb 13, 2015

Over all a great truck i would buy again but probably in a crew cab. With a exhaust system the sound really improves. Basic engine mods really wake her us as well. the 4x4 can clear 285-70-17 tires at stock height which is nice.Jan 20, 2015

What I like is low maintenance cost, also has a lot of torque for towing, controls are simple, cargo capacity is great since this has the 3/4 ton underpinning and brakes, what I don't like is mileage around town is 10mpg. Aug 05, 2013

I bought this truck in October 2011 with 207k miles.
It was very dependable, never broke down once. The engine never let's the power go even with the AC on full power. Decent and comfortable seats in the back for my children too.
I traded it in on my '06 VW Passat and received $1750 as the trade in.

Its performance is light with the v6 4.2 but powerful enough to carry anything I've put in the bed. It was built very well its been in two accidents and is still running strong with over 200,000 miles on it. Its appearance is typical of its competition. Its cost is still low I've had it three years and spent less than 400 on all repairs including its accidents. Its long wheel base and can haul plenty in the bed so as far as its fun factor maybe if your hauling around your friends but other than that it does what it was meant to do haul cargo and get me from a to b.Apr 12, 2012

I liked the looks but if you need to regularly pull a trailer then don't get the V6. The only other weak point is the power door locks. They quit working after less than 3 years. I'm buying another F150.Jan 22, 2012

overall its a good truck, just don't forget its a truck. I pulls very well, is sure
footed in slippery conditions, and is comfortable. This one sits a bit higher because
it has the 7700 package which gives it more towing capabilities (1100 lbs over the
avg f150 i believe it may be more than that). the 7 lug wheels that come with the
7700 package are drag because aftermarket wheels are harder to come by and

Good pickup for the price. it wont let you down. It is a heavy half so it does a lot of
things a 150 couldnt do. so ya its a good truck to work with. thats pretty much it.

Not the best performance truck. It only has a 4.2L V6 but the K&N filter does help.
It is very solid and well engineered. I think these trucks can look awesome if done
the right way. Since it's an XL, the interior is very basic; rubber flooring, no power
locks or windows. Gets around 14mpg city, 25mpg highway. This truck only has
68,000 miles so mechanically it is in great shape and has not needed any severe

Decent fuel mileage for a full size truck. The only 2 things that really disappoint me
about this truck are the front wheel bearings and doors both somewhat poorly
engineered. I have used and abused this truck and it doesn't even show it. It's
been driven hard and horribly overloaded. Until I hit a deer you would swear it

dont know much on the performance end but i guess she kicks out easy but for tuning shes got true duals air raid intake and a hypertech chip. accelertions great cus she just dont spin she just grips the road and goes. Handling rough when in a real bumby. interior is stock but exterior has a ground effects packages, cowl hood, and the lightning bumper. i get 20-21 miles per gallon.Nov 07, 2010

Truck has been a blast to drive and own. From the factory it was poochy with 3.08 gears and the little V8, but with a 5.4 transplant and 4.56 locked differentials and a few other goodies, it'll wipe chevys off the road. Performance: Pretty good, It runs great for a ford.
Build Quality: Its decent, Needs new swaybar bushings at the moment. Deer killed them.
Appearance: It's sexy for a ford.
Cost of Ownership: Expensive if you drive it hard..Gas money out the ass.
Fun Factor: It's very fun to drive, Holds the road good. It can hold its own versus other fords. It has outran an 01 Mustang GT, a 07 Mustang GT and a Toyota Tundra.

stock, it was sluggish on accelerating, good on braking, and ok on handling. after lift kit and heavy engine work, all 3 categories were greatly improved.
stock, it was a sturdy truck. after lift and engine mods and 100,000 miles, have gone thru a few different squeeks and rattles but have modified interior for comfort and have since removed all the annoying noises. with strict maintenance, there is no reason the truck can't last 15+ years.
Stock, this truck is gorgeous all on its own, its why i got one!! i've done minor modifications to it. Billet style grille, mud flaps, smittybuilt side steps, HID conversion, 3-inch body lift and 4-inch suspension lift and 35" BFG Mudders. Interior, racing guages on DS A pillar, Pioneer AVIC-D3 GPS headunit, Kicker 12-inch Subwoofer, Sony XPLOD 1500 W. Amp. I've redone the leather in the truck 2 times due to different wear/tear issues but nothing major.
Cost for this truck is well into $50000 range, if not more. due to my off roading adventures, i've run into my share of "oops" moments, which have come to cost quite a bit to fix. after modification, gas milage has gone down the drain. i currently get about 12 city MPG and (At best) 16-18 HWY.
Fun Factor is the only reason my baby is still around. i absolutly love to drive my truck and would reccommend for people to have such adventures as i have.Jul 30, 2010

I like the performance of it and it runs good. Downside is it has body squeaks so when I turn a corner or drive up the 7 story garage at work all you hear is squeak squeak squeak. Wish there was a cheap and easy fix for it.

this truck out proformes every other truck in its class that i have ever driven or worked with. i mean is abuolutly blowes me away evey time i drive it. almost never needs any repair besides standared stuff. put a chip on it and a set of flowmasters and your running almost 20 mpg city!
