I Love It — I love just about every thing about my Jimmy. The performance is great. It gets up a goes. It's not costing me to much. It is very fun to drive. It has 4x4 so you know I love it. The only thing that I don't like about it is that is a 2 door and I have a baby still in the carseat.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: It handles like a champ.

Cons: I haven't found any reasons not to get this suv

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: it fits my family in it

Cons: the old tires

I Like It - It's My Boyfriend's Truck Though. — Performance - like any truck, not my thing but definitely not bad. Build - again, bigger than I like, but it is a truck. I love the look. Mine has a gold package which makes it stand out, especially after being waxed. The interior is all leather and I love that. The mileage is not great, but the way you drive makes a difference.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Powerful & comfortable interior. Lots of extras

Cons: Less-than-awesome gas mileage

My Gmc Jimmy Review — One of the best truck I have ever owned. a very close #1 to my 97 Ranger, but that was a 2wd. I get 18 MPG city and 21 HYW. I love the room and pep and would get another on in this body style again.

Pros: Very roomy, fun to drive, love all things about it

Cons: slow to disengaged from 4HI to 2WD

Gmc Jimmy — That one came right after the Z28, was great on snow with the 4x4. If in 2wd, she's RWD and gets very good gas mileage for being an SUV, a rather spacious one too. Rides nicely, smooth for a truck and doesn't mind traveling at high speed, won't pay you back with enormous gas consumption. Over all a very nice SUV, great for somebody with the need of a bigger vehicle but without the big bucks to buy an Escalade or such.

Pros: n/a

Cons: n/a

If You Want Something To Get You From Point A To Point B In Any Range Of Conditions This Is It. — a complete blast to own and drive. beefy engine with lots of power and a quality transmission to back it up is always a plus. durable as all get out, its a very dense vehicle for its compact size. 4wd makes winter my favorite time of year. comfortable ride for it being on a pickup truck chassis. very useful and versatile vehicle all around.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: 4wd, cargo space, engine power, durability - while not taking up an ungodly amount of space

Cons: gas mileage is not its forte.

Phil says:
I bought a British Columbia Exclusive GMC Jimmy whistler edition, the 97 was the first year of the WE. In 2016, I scored the fine steed for $500, and it needed new brakes, making the final tag $2,000. As far as everything goes, Ive heard lots of negatives about the Jimmy, even though it was powered by GMs 4.3 V6, in which parts were known to fail. I only owned mine for 3 months, and despite it being neglected and being stolen and dirtied to high heaven, it still kept going. It did give off a whirring noise after being driven at high speeds, but would go away after a day or being put into 4-wheel, and taken off-road. My mechanic owns 2 of these machines. so if he has them they must be good.

Power Ranked 2006 Hyundai Tucson GL 2WD worse.
"The engine in the Jimmy is larger, but that doesnt mean the Tucson cant give it a run for the money."
Handling Ranked 2006 Hyundai Tucson GL 2WD better.
"This comes down to the fact my Jimmy was a beater, and my tucson had brand new shocks installed, but even so, the Jimmys bigger, and the tucsons 2wd is FWD, giving it an easier stroke in handling."
Looks/Style Ranked 2006 Hyundai Tucson GL 2WD worse.
"This is a personal opinion. The Tucson looks like a cute, dainty korean girl, the Jimmy looks like its P90X, muscle shirt wearing boyfriend. If you want the cute vehicle, a tucson might suit you, but the Jimmy looks tougher, which suits its 4WD purpose. "
Front Seats Ranked 2006 Hyundai Tucson GL 2WD worse.
"Again, Leather interior for the Jimmy SLT, cloth for the GL."
Back Seats Ranked 2006 Hyundai Tucson GL 2WD worse.
"The space was a little bit better, and the SLT had a leather interior. "
Cargo Capacity Ranked 2006 Hyundai Tucson GL 2WD worse.
"The Jimmys got more cargo space. The Tucsons cargo space isnt far behind, though."
Family Car Ranked 2006 Hyundai Tucson GL 2WD worse.
"Its much cheaper, its older, The leather interior is easier for spill cleaning."
Value Ranked 2006 Hyundai Tucson GL 2WD worse.
"A 4WD that goes for less than the korean 2wd? is this really a debate?"
Would Buy Ranked 2006 Hyundai Tucson GL 2WD worse.
"No debate. I would buy a $2,000 97 GMC Jimmy again over the 06 Hyundai Tucson. It was cheaper, more fun to drive, it was more luxurious and the stock CD deck, which was older, Actually worked, even with burned CDs. The Tucsons newer, stock CD player struggled out of the gate to read CDs, and after 6 months i replaced it with a Bluetooth stereo. (Hyundais stock Stereo is also a problem with my moms 06 Santa Fe.)"
