Fantastic Daily Driver — I am happy to report that this truck will probably never fully die. I have been saying it is on its last leg for many years and it continues to deliver me everywhere I need. I am not thrilled to have to drive it on freeways over 75 MPH but it handles it with surprising ease for such a weathered vehicle. I will miss her when shes gone.

    Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Great daily driver. It handles all of the work I need out of it and has never left me stranded.

Cons: Interior has degraded rapidly after about 15 years.

Real Good Bang For Buck As Far As Trucks Go — As far as performance goes for a stock vehicle with no performance parts and being as old as it is, accelerates real strong, brakes and handles like a 4x4. Now needs some body work to repair some surface rust. Has needed a tuneup and new tires, so far very reliable. 2 tone black and silver exterior and grey leather interior, about as nice as it gets in 1997. It does not have to work very hard to pull the vehicle around with the 5.4 liter and with proper regular maintenance, achieves incredible mileage for a half tonne when you keep your foot out of it. Fun? about as much fun as you can have with a stock 4x4 half tonne.

    Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Nice body style, strong engine, comfortable and very capable. No wonder its the best selling truck.

    Cons: Its getting outdated

Great Dependable Truck — Durability and use are great. It has been a very dependable truck. It does however burn through front breaks about every 18 months. It has amazing towing capacity. I have towed over 6 tons with no problem. I have driven it over 150K and love it but it is time to replace it.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: Dependable, useful and lots a power.

Cons: Burns through front breaks every 18mo

If You Cant Find'em... Grind'em. — Performance - acceleration, braking, handling-i would very good for a six cylinder. Build Quality - has it needed repairs? squeaks/rattles- everything needs repairs at some point. Appearance - both interior and exterior styling-very good Cost of Ownership - gas mileage, maintenance-bought it used, a decent price though. Fun Factor - is this car fun to drive?yea

    Primary Use: Commuting to work

    Pros: Decent gas mileage.

    Cons: 2wd. v6.

Good Relaible Vehicle For Work Or Play — This truck is overall a good relaible work horse. The 4.6L 3V engine that it has offers enough power to get the jobs done that need to be done. As normal for trucks it does not have perfect acceleration/braking but from experience it does have power to go when needed. Appearance is a sharp look in this truck which a much needed improvement from the boxier style the year before. Interior on this is nice then most as it has the lariat option which gives this leather interior. The 4x4 feature is a good investment to make if going to off road as it comes in handy.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Good appearance inside and out makes the owner like it. Good gas mileage for a 4x4 which is unexpected. Easy and cheap to repair.

Cons: Rocker panel issue on all F-150 of the style. Back seats are uncomfortable after long periods of time.

I Love Big Red And He Has Not Quit On Me Or My Grandpa — i love big read. he was originally my grandfathers and i was lucky enough to get this truck. It has a 5.4L triton v8 with a K&N cold air intake. Heads, exhaust, and flow-masters on the tailpipes for a nice low rumble. It has the horsepower to have a mind of its own. with the Goodyear wranglers on it i cant complain. overall i love my truck and its got at least 300hp+ and a 400lb-tq

    Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: its a 4x4 with performance upgrades and it will haul if you have supreme in the tank

    Cons: none

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: its an over all great truck

    Cons: its a gas hog

You Get What You Pay For I Guess. — As for performance, it's a good ride. The appearance is nice, however gas mileage is much to be determined. It's not the most fun vehicle on the planet. As for the build quality, the chassis has rusted out on the rear-end of the vehicle, along with the pan and radio (yes, it happened). The chassis ended up cracking and needed to be replaced. Other than that, it's a half decent vehicle.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: For a four weel drive vehicle, it has power.

Cons: Cracking chassis seems to be an issue.

Amazing Truck. Best You Can Have! — I love my truck. The person before us put a cattle guard on it, tail light covers, and a glass pack. It's a small 4.6L V8 but it works I guess. :P The gas mileage REALLY sucks. I have to put gas in it every other day unless I don't drive it for a day or two. The hood is starting to lose some paint, but that's the only flaw other than small scratches/some white paint from being mainly a work truck. Oh an it's supposed to be dual exhaust, BUT one rusted out and it kept banging on the bumper so we had to get rid of that portion. The person before us also never gave it a tune up. It had the original spark plugs and boots since 97 until about a year ago. Great truck. It has it's flaws like every other car, but hey.. It's a Ford. :D

    Pros: It's a Ford!

Cons: Gas mileage, and last spark plug on the passenger side is a pain in the ass to get to.
