I use corolla 1996 5A engine... it cuts off while driving.i wait for few minutes then it starts again.. I have changed distributor and computer board.

The 1996 Toyota Corolla got small facelift for the model year. The grille's frame matched the body paint, and the taillight panels were restyled. Inside, the interior trim was updated, a built-in car seat was available as an option, and the transmission was upgraded. In addition, the LE sedan was discontinued.
The 1996 Toyota Corolla was available as a wagon and a sedan. The wagon came in the DX trim level, and the sedan came as a standard or DX. The base engine was a four-cylinder, 1.6-liter, 102-horsepower engine, and the DX sedan could be upgraded to a 1.8-liter, 105-horsepower engine. Fuel economy, depending on the engine and transmission, was surelyout 26-34 mpg.
Drivers of the 1996 Corolla find that the car can be noisy, especially at freeway speeds, and larger adults may find that the backseat doesn't offer enough legroom. However, owners speak highly of the 1996 Toyota Corolla for its dependability, value, and fuel efficiency.

I have owned this car for 13 years; hardly any problems. This is a great low cost car. I use the car for commute to work. I Would by another, but my wife and I want something that sits higher off the ground.Feb 21, 2013

Performance - slow acceleration, handling is solid, motor is reliable
Build Quality - almost never needs repairs
Appearance - all the paint is on it and there are no dents, but the trim is falling off
Fun factor - not much of a wow factor, but it is a manual transmission

The performance of this car has met my standards. For a 4 cylinder it
accelerates fairly fast, braking is great, and it takes corners like it's no problem.
The only thing repair-wise I've done to it, is the brake lines, and a battery. But
those are just things that go with time.
I've been working on my car, improving the look slowly, but even without it, so
a little reliable car, it's really nice looking, and the interior is awesome. I just
don't like that the AC adapter is right under the drink holder, so when I have a
drink in there, it blocks the socket.
Cost of owning this car is cheap. I bought it for 2800, and it's cheap insurance,
and I get over 500 km per tank, with next to no maintenance.
I think this car is a lot of fun to drive. I'll have a hard time ever getting rid of it.Nov 15, 2010

My first all weel drive car, tough suspention excelent fuel economy. excelent for long trips great curves at high speeds the handling is good I am an expert using the gearbox to help the brakes, I own this car since 2005 and only changed oil and water.Mar 22, 2010

The 1996 Corolla accelerates quickly, brakes well, and handles the curves nicely. The engine runs very well and has not needed very much in the way of repairs. It is noisier on freeway driving than the Toyota Camry, as it is not as insulated. The appearance is of a practical car but a little bit sporty as well. Cost of ownership has been very good. A good first car for a girl. Plastic dash old style slide controls.auto 3 speed gutless.Repaired 4 times since i owned it, good thing i get parts cheap.Easy to drive fun on corners.Their are lots still on the road so you can get one like mine for $3000.Cert & e tested.Feb 18, 2010

It's a nice budget car that gets good gas mileage, horsepower is yet to be desired but with the cost of gas no-one can go wrong with 37 mpg... this thing is like a go-cart, it's snappy and handles like it's on railsJan 05, 2010

Always accelerates; always brakes; always turns. No unexpected repairs in 136k miles except for a front bearing replacement after an aggressive off-road sprint. Still looks like a 1990s model car. Was paid off in 1999; virtually free to drive. Insurance is cheap. Nobody will steal it. Turns on a dime and is small enough to avoid door-dings in parking lots. Fun and worry free!Nov 20, 2009

Great performance in acceleration, breaking, and handling. Great quality and value. Decent appearance. EXCELLENT GAS MILEAGE (almost 40 mpg) and low maintenance. Awesome to drive. Raw power combined with precise handling and exceptional braking. This car really sticks in the corners and will apeal to the entusiast.
Sleek, sporty yet elegant design makes this car as much a pleasure to look at as it is to drive.
The fuel economy of this vehicle is unsurpassed, not only in it's own class but also compared to smaller economy vehicles.

i love my car its got fantastic handling and the speeds alright. The performance is good for the price i paid for and it can take a hard and rought races and always lived the day without any problems.
Interior is supurb and standard. Everything still looks like new and looked after.
I would recommend and have recommending this model to people who are looking for a fun and reliable ride.
Its fun to drive but not when you got alot of fat arses in the in the car crushing the suspension. LOL sorry guys
Oh yeah and the cars got alot of potential too which im looking into atm
