What is the difference between the sl500 & the sl 600 in the year 1995.
I am looking at a 1995 sl600 with 60,000k for $12,000. I was wondering about the difference in the 2 models. (SL600 & SL500) 1995 Thanks!

The SL Mercedes Benz convertible from 89-2001, I can measure the model by turning the Key. If that ASR light on or ABS on . A $2.500 repair thats just for the ASR light.

If we were back in 1995, I would say that this care is the best driving machine ever. But comparing it to the same model today after driving it you would leave thinking, what took you so long. Excellent machine to drive.Oct 13, 2020

I had possession of this car for around a month. Driving the car was great. It had that luxury ride in a sport coupe. I guess that's why it cost $120K when it was new back in 1995! The only bad thing was that it does take a lot of gas. I guess being a V12 motor, that is to be expected!Aug 07, 2014

Sitting to low was the only downside, it was a great car, comfortable, pretty, (at the time) and ofcourse a convertable. It was a costly car to purchase but I never had a problem besides a flat tire, it was under warranty anyway. I don't recall the exact gas mileage it got, but don't remember thinking it was expensive to fill the gas tank.Feb 05, 2010

That being said keep in mind that one of my other all-time favorite cars is the 1985 VW Westfalia Vanagon. That might take away from my credibility. I love my SL500. I think it is a high point in Mercedes Benz engineering. The car is so solid. It has a lot of power. The engine is a thing of simple beauty. It can be expensive to maintain. It handles beautifully and is very comforable. I deal used cars so I have driven hundreds of different cars. A lot of them are between junk and nothing special. A few are better classified between practical and reliable. I get excited by only a few of the cars I come in contact with. I will only mention cars I have driven, because there are a number of great cars out there. I drive a 98 Berlinetta and a 02 Maranello. Both are amazing cars but the Berlinetta gets tiring to drive after awhile because of the stiff tuning. The Maranello is more powerful and more comforable and a real thrill to drive, but it ends up in the shop too often. There are a few other cars that I think highly of, but nothing is more satisfying than my 1995 SL500. I love everything about that car! It is fast (my personal top speed has been 160mph and it felt pretty solid at that speed. It is comfortable enough that I could drive it all day!Nov 15, 2007

1995 SL 500
I have a 1995 SL500. I was putting the soft top up and it stopped with the roof pointing straight up. The up/down button light is blinking and the windows do not go up. I have looked at the fuses under the hood and In the trunk. They all look good. Anybody got a good guess? Thanks.

I have 95 sl600 the soft top will not come up.
The Red button flashes when I try to rise the top. When I push the button to lower it, I hear a sound like it is cycling to a finish. The warning light for the roll bar stays on and the ABS, ADS and ASR lights stay on. Anyone have an answer?
