A Beautiful And Powerful Road Machine — The 1992 Mercedes500SL Convertable Roadster is an awesome car to own. If you want heads to turn while you are passing by or at a stoplight,This is the car to own . Repairs can be pricy but if you can afford one ,it is a good investment.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Powerful Engine, smooth ride and an eye catcher

Cons: Repairs are a bit pricy if you just have a regular job.

Good Looking Classic Mercedes — Comfortable car to drive. Classic looks and enough power to keep you out of trouble. Great car for top down driving (except winter). Removeable hardtop for winter season. (But does take 2 to put on-take off.) Does require premium gas & mileage is not the best.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Plenty of power and good handling for touring

Cons: Gas mileage leaves a good bit to be desired.
Repairs & maintenance relatively expensive, but it is an older Mercedes

Everything Major That Could/would Need Repair On This Vehicle Has Been Done By Qualified Mechanic — Ultimate Man Machine V-12....more power than able to use, legally that is... Have owned car since 1996. Also own 1978 SL-450 and am about to retire and want to start putting money into my first love, the 450.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: FUN, SEXY, drive ONLY if you want to be noticed

Cons: Takes Premium gas ONLY

It's A Mercedes! — Good daily driver, reliable & fun. Not so good on snow or ice though. Plenty of power but gas mileage (using Premium) is not the best. Good touring comfort. I really like the turning radius - much better than my Jag. Great classic style.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: great with top down

Cons: stay off snow & ice.

The 129 Is The Culmination Of Its Predecessors And The Birthright Of Its Successors. — Classy car that defers to no other. Okay, it's not as fast as the 500 but of all the 129's its the SL with the original personality of its predecessors. It's Bruno Sacco at his finest, and attracts attention moving or not. This is what $84,000 bought in 1994.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Its looks, it's sweet-as-cream and tough-as-nails, and how quickly you feel you cant live without it.

Cons: Maybe those who want more power and a few more bells and whistles.

It Wont Bother You If The Stock Market's Up Or Down — you dont mind sitting at red lights in this car. doesnt make the loud music of its V8/V12 brothers but so what...it's the quiet samurai of the trio. more the personality of a rolls or bentley. I'm buying an old F150 to drive when it's raining so the SL stays dry.

Pros: you find yourself talking to the car, quietly at first, expecting it to answer

Cons: ittle keep you awake when you should be sleeping

Enthusiast Specal — Body style is handsome and timeless. Handles tight corners with confidence and the removable hardtop to soft top versatility affords a rich driving experience. Resale value and prestige are both high. Driving the Mercedes 500SL is almost as much fun as owning one.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Fun

Cons: Repair cost

Wish I Had Always Owned This Car (i Started Driving In 1965). — Of all of the cars I have owned, the performance, looks and fun factor are all contained in the 1994 Mercedes SL500. It is a solid car with no squeaks or rattles. It averages about 20 mpg, which is it's only down side (especially since it requires Chevron's top gas). Maintenance is limited to oil changes, which are pricey, but with synthetic oil, lasts for 7,000 miles. With a removable hard top, this car rocks! It is also extremely safe because of its speed (easy to get out of tight jams) and handling.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Fast, safe, looks great, well built (solid)

Cons: Oil changes are pricey but last twice as long
