Couldn't want for anything more for a car that is nearly 20 years old it still shifts, handles great, not the worlds fastest as it's only a standard 1.8. Never ever has it let me down, passes m.o.ts not probs had it for 3 years and can't let go!!! Love the way it looks, inside is basic but it has what it needs to have. Doesn't need high maintenance and petrol can go far as long as you go easy on it. This is the most fun car I have ever driven and sounds awesome always a head turner I love it almost as much as I love my kids!!Dec 10, 2010

i LOVED this car, and my boyfriend doesnt understand why i did. lol. this was my first car, my daddy bought it for me for 500 bucks with his employee discount, he was an auto tech. it worked REALLY well, this car never gave me one problem, except the e-brake rusted after a winter buried under a 6 foot snowpile, and it was kinda hard going uphill. this car was really good on gas, the interior was in great shape, it was a comfortable ride for long commutes from reading to scranton when my daddy had cancer. the only thing was in the last couple years i had it, the paint started fading. my ex fiance ended up getting in an accident with it, which totalled it and made me REALLY upset. even though it was all smashed up, the car STILL started and ran and sounded the same as always! she was a trooper. i miss her! she handles great but still needs a new right front CV boot and left front CV axle. most of my issues have been external engine (pulleys, belts, etc.) which is good. she has a nice full exhaust on her that really shows that flat-4 sound. shes all black with tint and JSP OEM wing. under the hood is a 2.2L flat-4 EJ22E motor. i have a K26 turbo for her that i cant wait to drop in.May 24, 2009

well, i bought this baby pretty late into its life (198k miles already). it the best $1,800 dollars i'd ever spent. even after a accident it still runs like it never happened. I modded the air intake system and hopefully overhauling the entire thing eventually, upgrading it from L trim to WRX's standards (168hp). so far it's 125ish heh.. but seriously, a very good car. if you're bound by a budget, this is a good choice if anyDec 07, 2008

Premièrement, c'est pas vraiment une critique auto parce que comme dirait les américains "I tuned the shit out of it".Bref, lorsque j'en ai eu finis de ma belle Subaru y'avait plus grand choses de standard.Je vais donc vous énumérer et expliquer ce que j'ai fais à cette pauvre voiture. En commençant par le moteur, due à mes progrès en tant que conducteur apprentis, la pompe à huile du EJ18 d'origine a rendu l'âme lors d'une "paisible" balade sur la 138.Le hic c'est que je ne m'en suis pas rendu compte avant que j'éteigne le moteur, le mal était fait l'EJ18 était soudé en un bloc.Y'a peut-être aussi le fait qu'étant jeun et con eh bien je n'ai peut-être pas tout à fait suivis le carnet d'entretien.Morale de l'histoire les enfants, si vous voulez que votre voiture roule bien et longtemps FAITES VOS CHANGEMENTS D'HUILE À TEMPS. Du fait ma fierté était sans moteur, je fis ni d'une ni deux et je changeai le moteur, mais pas par n'importe quoi.Ayant mes contacts au Japon eh bien j'y installai un tout nouveau EJ20G directement d'une WRX nipponne.C'était en 1999, à ma conaissance j'ai probablement été le premier à avoir une WRX à Québec sinon dans la province et pourquoi pas au Canada.Instantanément, je passais de 106 pauvre petits chevaux vapeur à 245.Disons que mon permis en a pris un coup. Mon permis n'eut pas de répis puisque que quelques temps plus tard j'installai un turbo de mon cru.À cette époque j'étudiais en consctruction aéronautique donc j'avais accés à un atelier d'usinage vraiment full equip.En gros c'est un IHI VF34 qui remplaça le turbo d'origine, de IHI lui aussi.Nouveaux injecteurs, nouvel ordinateur moteur, nouveau collecteur d'admission et d'échappement, ligne de 3 pouces sans catalyseur jusqu'au bout.Et un muffler percé à la Black&Decker.Les policiers étaient beaucoup plus permissif à l'époque.Résultat 309 Hp aux roues. Ça avançait en tabarnac! ( excusez-moi je m'emporte ), mais seulement en ligne droite.Quelques payes plus tard des coilovers Tein remplaçait l'excellente suspension Mac-Pherson d'origine.Maintenant ça collait dans les courbes , mais il fallait ralentir aussi.De fait le kit de freins d'une WRX du Japon remplaça les pièces d'origine. Et voilà j'avais un bolide entre les mains.Six mois plus tards tout étaient scrappe et j'avais besoin d'une nouvelle auto.May 21, 2008

The WRX was a bloody amazing car to drive. Reliability wise, clutch burn't out before 70,000km (I was the third owner), gear box popped out of first occasionally, handbrake didn't hold car on a slope and you couldn't adjust it. Diff started clunking and groaning at the end. Spark plugs were $100 for a set of four. No room to work in the engine bay. Seats were standard crappy hard old seats in the early models - not comfortable for long drives. Dec 27, 2007
