This car was the most reliable vehicle I’d ever owned. I had a 2000 Mustang in College back in 2007. Obviously, it wasn’t the best to drive in snowy Iowa winters. I was given this car by my dad’s friend after it sat in a barn for years. Well, my dad got it running and I drove it during the winter and stored the Mustang. With over 336,000 miles I never once felt unsafe and it never failed me. It was a 5 speed manual GL coupe. I finally have to give it up when my foot almost went through the floorboard the bottom was so rusted. To this day I miss that car. It’s truly a shame that Ford doesn’t make reliable bulletproof vehicles like this anymore. I’m now a Volkswagen fanboy with a 2023 Arteon SEL Premium R-line 4Motion but I’ll always have a place in my heart for that little Tempo that kept me safe hours from home.Nov 08, 2023

Fairly good performance for 2.3Liter, Still runs great with good gas mileage fair on expense except for a few design flaws sure was not made to drive on Michigan's pot filled roads.Body has held up very well for being a Mi. car. Main problems seat-belt shoulder strap motors do not last, struts and coil springs are not as strong as I would like and water pump is a poor designFeb 03, 2011

it was ok. i would say it makes a good first car. it handled great unless there was ice on the road. but hey i only paid 1000 dollars for it. i had fun while it lasted. uh go fordOct 14, 2009

This was by far the worst car I've ever owned. Within two weeks of buying the car, we had to replace the alternator, which started a huge slide of repairs made that exceeded the cost of the car itself. I would never, ever buy another Ford again after that car. Aug 20, 2009

it sucked, the harmonic balancer goes out because its center gasket/washer wears down and causes the crackshaft pulley to throw the serpentine belt off everytime you tap the gas too hard.Feb 23, 2008

93 ford tempo dies when turning corners
my dad got me a 93 ford tempo its my first car and every since i got it it seemed to run just fine but now its starting to die just out of the blue i took it in twice the first time he changed my spark plugs the thing there in and a gas filter because it was clogged after that it seemed to run just fine then again it started to die again same thing while turning corners it seems like its not getting enough gas for when i slow down so i took it a second time this time he replaced my iac and seemed to run fine and now its starting to die again if anyone can help that would be great because this is starting to make me mad and i already just put over $200 into it to still just be guessing what the problem is if anyone can help or just give some advise that would be great

I have a 93 tempo with 2.4 engine there is a metal cover on the crankshaft pulley with timing marks on it, somehow it is moving making a loud knocking sound. What can be done for that??
