New Cars Aren't Always The Best!! — brilliant old bus (yes, its a 1990) and is about to have a nice shiny 2.3 lump with a TD04 turbo dropped into it, thats a fair portion into the 200+BHP mark so should be good for a laugh Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: sleeper Cons: roof lining ![]() Looking for a Used 9000 in your area?CarGurus has thousands of nationwide listings and the tools to find you a great deal. |

Go For Newer Models 9-3 Or 9-5 If Buying Used — Engine can accumulate thousands of miles trouble-free, turbo must be well maintained. Give a close look to the various seals and probable oil leaks. Performance is there, handling not bad. If seeking economy, look elsewhere. Turbo is thirsty for gasoline. Primary Use: Family transportation Pros: Turbo performance Cons: Capricious sometimes |

Saab 9000 2.3 Turbo Auto — 2.3 Turbo Auto, beat everyone who thought they could race me. I remember an annoying driver once on the A1 flashing me to get out of his way when I was passing someone, so i made him work - 120mph and every time I pushed the accelerator the front of the lifted up. After 1/2 mile I slowed down when I saw a new jam sandwich ahead, he didn't and got pulled up. Pros: Compfy, fast, solid Cons: drinks fuel |

The 1989 9000 5 Door Turbo Is Without A Doubt The Best And Last Real Saab. — As a young apprentice working with SAAB I brought a 9000 Turbo off the original lady owner as the transmission had failed with less than 55k on the clock it was showroom cond.. Brought a secondhand trans out of a griffin and fitted it on my driveway in5 degree southerly with pneumonia.. Almost killed me but so worth it as i put more Ks on it in 9 months than it had ever done before and with good oil and regular changes ( thanks Wellington Star, who unknowingly kept my car well in mobil 1 5w50 ) safe and beautiful with black leather she was a gem, made a tidy profit a year later but still wonder if i would have being better off keping it. Pros: Build quality unmatched ( GM soon wrecked this ), great motor, comfortable, reliable, good in the snow.
Cons:
bottoms out if pushed too hard over undulating surfaces.. parts not cheap, hard to find good ones around, poor image thanks to the architects and yuppies that clog the fast lanes in SAABs doing 90.. |

Fully Loaded And Quick — electric everything, 2 litre turbo , lots of fun to drive although handling not great on standard size alloys or standard suspension setup. good build quality and very reliable as everyday car. Pros: comfortable and quick Cons: fuel consumpton with automatic gearbox is not great. |

My 3rd Car — This was my first front wheel drive car. It was my first automatic also. I loved the car for the combination of its good looks, good performance, great utility & space. The 160hp turbo in-line 4 engine was surprisingly strong and fast. The rear hatchback and the folding rear seats gave great utility. Interior was very tastfully done. Saab 9000 shared its chasis with Fiat Croma, Lancia Thema and Alfa Romeo 164. Saab 9000 looks very similar to Croma and Thema, but Alfa opted to only use the chasis and put on a very different body 164 alone looks distinctive. Of the 3 that did look similar, I think 9000 looked best. Pros: Good perfomance, good utility, good looks. Cons: Poor electronics build quality. Some serious recalls by Saab. |

Nice Normal Car With Luxuries — I bought this car very cheap, fixed it and sold it last summer, and now I miss it, it was a good car, not the most attractve maybe, but reliable and roomy, with rare extras. Pros: Beige velour interior, ACC, arm wrest front and back, reliability Cons: Lack of power(130 bhp) and the fact that it ain't mine anymore. |
