1990 Buick Reatta Convertible FWDReview

An Awesome Two Seater Alternative To An Sl Mercedes! — Handles great, runs well all the time, decent gas mileage considering weight. Nice fit and finish from GM with Riviera dependability. Buick missed the mark on this one, pricing it originally a over 37,000 and building them essentially by hand. A failed marketing concept that ends up being highly collectable. Good for us, bad for GM, I suppose. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: style, handling, unknown to average car person. Cons: convertible top is noisy on highway over 70mph. that's it, basically. |

They Don't Make Em Like This Anymore... — LOVE everything about this car with the exception of a lack of parts. Repairs are getting harder to make as certain parts are unavailable and mechanics are hard to come by that actually know what they are doing. Enjoy it if you can get one! Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: A classic hand built American car. Cons: Hard to find parts for anymore. :( |

A Rare Jewel That Is Underappreciated By Most. — This was a great car that I owned for almost 5 years. It was WAY ahead of its time. It drove great, was comfortable. It had EVERY luxury feature you could possibly think of for a car of that time period. It was like driving a spaceship. It was a Buick that some mistoke for a Porsche or Ferrari Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: Reliable, Comfortable, Hi-Tech fun toys. Cons: Some parts can be hard to source and very expensive |

I Don't Want To Enter A Title. — Bought it when it was about 13-15 years old. Reliable until the parts started failing. Although it was old, the appearance was nice. The acceleration was slow due to the weight of the car, brakes were good and handling was very good for a first car. The build quality was good compared to its age. Although the fuel injector was a giant pain, and other minor problems due to wear and tear. If I had gotten the car in better condition I would've kept the car for a lot longer. I enjoyed driving the car. Primary Use: Family transportation Pros: Solid metal body=tank Cons: Old and had part problems |

Good All Around 2 Seater - A Worthy Investment — Performance: Better then adequate (My Reatta is a 1990). Build Quality: For 1990, build quality was excellent. For 2009, it would be an 8 of 10. Always liked the appearance; especially the tail lights. I bought my Reatta from the original owner (76,000 miles). She kept the saddle color interior near-flawless (I'd rate it a 9.5 of 10)Shows very, very little wear. Original arctic white paint is an 8 out of 10 (never been in an accident and still has luster but some minor paint fade near trim). Mechanical parts are not difficult to find (many are shared with the Buick Riviera). Aesthetic parts to find can be a challenge to find but thankfully, there is eBay! Cost of ownership is high just like any used car in limited production. But the engine is bullet proof. It's an all around good two seater, a great cruiser and in very good condition, can be found for $5,000 (and will either sustain its value or increase). Pros: A classic - exclusivity at a reasonable price. A proven engine. Cons: Aesthetic parts tough to find (but available). |

Drives Nice Ahead Of Its Time — This car is well built, they don't make them today as they did, heavy construction, handles well fairly good gas milage and a style ahead of its time, leather, air cassette am/fm power locks and captians seat, all in all a very well built vehicle, how many automobiles do you know of that are still on the road after 18 years. Owner for 16 years, 0 months Miles Driven per Year:2,500 Pros: Hand built, no assembly line work, you won't find that today Cons: Poor marketing when vehicle was first introduced |
