The Family Cool Car... Rocket Style... — This one of my favorites, is a car that you can trust, you can drive it with pleasure and you can look at it with proud :) Doesn't drink much but doesn't have much power... try to buy the 1.6L. It must be funtastic! This version doesn't have assisted steering but it's not that heavy. Nowadays it's an old car yet I think maybe I could buy one again...

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Style; Reliability; Driving; Ergonomics; Used value

Cons: Price to buy it; Lack of assisted steering; Prefer the 1.6 engine

My Car Info — I love my car it's zippy it's small. The only problem is that it came with a 4speed, would have liked it in a 5. handles well takes corners neatly, has good fuel ecconomy. Looking forward to upgrading parts for even better performance and music clarity.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: out of the '88 corolla's I've seen, mine is the only manual (and it's red)

Cons: It's a 4 speed not a 5

Pretty Good. — My moms car. It has very good gas mileage. I have always liked the body style. Pretty good performance for such a small engine/car. It leaks at the sunroof, and it has problems starting. It also has rust issues, but thats because we had a repair job on it and the repairmen didn't do a good job on it.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Good styling, good gas mileage, O.K. performance.

Cons: Leaks, has trouble starting

Good Value Go Great And Cheap On Fuel — i like the 4age redtop under the hood its quick for what it is i have lowered which makes the handling great also love the shape its actually a gti corolla which is a nz build fxgt im looking for some alloys for it which will really set it off

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: fun car to drive

Cons: not much

1988 Commuter Toyota — This is a daily commuter, and I will say it generally starts every time.. after you put in key take it out flip it put it back in again.. and then viola it starts. And if you don't mind the exhaust leak and the oil burning you are in for some fun! Definately only for around town

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: small

Cons: exhaust leak, oil leak, not great gas mileage

Wonderful! — This car is a great one. Easy to drive, very comfortable interior. Nice handling, although the suspension comes up a little short. Lots of little things make this vehicle special. The tilt up headlamp motors can wear out over time, so I recommend wiring in a separate switch to raise/lower them. Also, watch out for the spare tire cover. It will break easily if you put too much weight on it. Overall, however, a fantastic little car with great gas mileage and lotsa fun!

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Fuel economy, style, handling

Cons: Suspension should be beefed up if you are a "spirited" driver.

Great — Fantastic family mini-estate. Excellent engineering, but it rusts like it was paid to do it. Ample room inside for two adults and two kids with holiday luggage. Best car my wife and I have ever bought. Wouldn't hesitate to buy another one

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: works every time

Cons: rusts

Toyota Corolla Wagon-88' — The thing i like most about my car is it is so easy to work on... gotta love the old technology :) its a 4 door wagon and it gets all my tools to the job in a dry location... gotta love the wagon.. still want to trade up to a truck though.. a light truck would be good

Pros: great on fuel, easy to work on.

Cons: its a freakin wagon..

Slightly Less Old Toyotas Can Still Be Good. — Nice little car. Two door hatchback. Bought broken and repaired as best as was possible. Performed well enough for what it was and did an acceptable job hauling me around the state. Toward the end of its life it started having many mechanical problems, eventually becoming to many to repair. If I had it to do again I probably would, but I'd be smarter about it.

Pros: Small, decent storage space.

Cons: Mechanical issues toward end of life, but was run hard before I ever got it.

Corolla Gt-s Ae92 — The Corolla GT-S is not so powerful but it's really fun to drive. It's also good looking. The look of the car is really cool for the time. It's also a very economic car for gas mileage. Even with a header and a 2½" exhaust pipe, I do easily 40 mpg.

Pros: Great looking,  fun to drive

Cons: A little lack of power from the 4A-GE
