1988 Dodge Diplomat Salon Review
says:
Brother in law owned one and loaned it to me when my wife drove to Florida with my Dodge 600. I dont know if he bought it new but I liked the power in the 318 V8. He said the same thing as other reviews it was a pig on gas driving in Brooklyn NY. I didnt live in Brooklyn so that meant nothing to me. I lived in more urban surroundings in Long Island NY. When my wife got back she got to drive it and loved the power and roominess up front. We agreed to trade the Dodge 600 for the Diplomat. Best car I ever bought.

Power Ranked 1988 Dodge Diplomat Salon worse.
"I never really got to drive the Salon in open highway so I really had no clue about its power. It performed ok in city streets. My own car I had the opportunity to drive in open road in Wyoming and South Dakota. I pegged the speedo and was still accelerating on US 90 heading for Sitting Bull monument. Im pretty sure it topped 100mph, thankfully I slowed down and felt pretty good about the car."
Back Seats Ranked 1988 Dodge Diplomat Salon worse.
"Other than the fact that my daughters told me seats didnt feel right in that car I didnt ever ride back there."

1988 Dodge Diplomat SE Review
says:
Bought it at a Dodge dealer as a one year old demo. Paid 10k owned it for 11 years. Fantastic road car, very well mannered maintenance was nothing more than brakes, tires, hoses. No mechanical troubles ever. Only time in for major repairs when my older daughter got rear ended. Took it cross country once and to Florida 5 or 6 times. Had power to spare, never any rust issues, felt comfortable letting the wife drive it anywhere. If I was still driving I would buy an other one in a sec.

I've Got To Replace The Puny 7.25 Rearend With A Stronger One. By latemodel

I like the car for its boldness. The frontend is a cadillac, and the rear fenders remind me of a 1974 Monte Carlo I once owned...beautiful. I dislike the fact that I can't at this time, locate any rub... Read More
