I've Owned It For 22 Years And Have No Plans To Sell It. —

Base model CLS that I purchased in 1990 from the second owner for $2,700. Had 31,000 miles on it and a month left on the warranty. It's got 210,000 on it now. To date I've done one clutch replacement along with CV boots, brakes, exhaust system and recently third timing belt. Shortly after I purchased it I bought and installed the factory air conditioner kit. Puts a bit of load on the 3 cyl motor but kept it cool while I was in Southern California. Now works great to defog the windows up here in the Pacific Northwest. Still on original charge after 20 years. Valves easy to adjust and engine only holds a little over 3 qts of oil. I've ran Mobil 1 the whole time. Engine still clean under valve cover. Did have to replace O-ring on distributor shaft. Great fuel economy 35-40 mpg on freeway and 25-35 around town. Original paint started to crack at 17 year mark. Driver seat vinyl failed at 12 year mark...just buy a new sheepskin seat cover every so often. Still very tight and solid. Runs well through snow, slush & ice. Great commuter and grocery get'er. Made two 5,000 mile road trip from CA to KY and back in summer and winter. Could use a cruise control

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Rock solid reliabilty and econonmy.  Very well buit and easy to service.  Fun car to drive around town, very easy to park and excellent visibility.

Cons: Only imported for 4 years and parts are available as long as you don't mind waiting.

Daihatsu. That's Who! — Acceleration is not too bad and the brakes are OK, but the rear shocks need replacing. No squeeks or rattles, but the paint is badly faded on the bonnet and roof. Cheap as to run and will be more amusing to drive when I fix the suspension and alignment

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Cheap to run

Cons: The stereo is poohs

Would Like To Have Another. Regretted Trading It For The Civic 4 Door Esi. — Most fun small car that I've had. 12 valve, 3 cylinder, fuel injected turbo with less than 1 liter engine capacity. Low road tax, reasonable fuel consumption (in relation to it's performance). Could carry a fair load of things despite it's small overall size. Most excellent car. Handling was not as good as a Suzuki Swift GTI or the Civic and build quality was not too good (has a spot weld crack that creaked throughout the car's life). Paint was very thin. Sleeper in appearance. No one expects a 1 liter car to run as fast.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Fun and high performance

Cons: None

My Little 3 Door, 3 Cylinder, 1 Litre Sedan. By Jude

Poor old thing is well past his prime, but I can't bear to let him go yet. All my other cars (except for one) have been ancient so I'm hoping he will last until he's at least 20! I love him. Read More

Nasty Little Deathtrap By Tim

Interior is durable, but cheap. It's a tiny little car with such amazing features as an AM radio. No air-con, no power steering, no nothing. You'd think that'd mean "no worries" but you'd be wrong. ... Read More

Cheap & Cheerful By Mal

One Little Kicking Horse By Luka

the car is great, well on my car the springs became really soft and the brakes are now a little soft, but if those 2 things are fixed it would be a little rally car :) Read More

Worst Wintercar Ever! By Michael

A wintercar that was truly horrible! The brakes sucked, the handling was worse than a freight-ship. Steering was awfully unprecise! Read More
