Awesome — This is an amazing car, i had the 1600 sprinter that came out with thwin carburetors. The handling is absolutely amazing. Being such an old car it has its ups and downs. Should i get another one i would not sell or swop it even if you wanted to give me a SL55

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Engine life is amazing

Cons: Like all toyotas its body cant stand the sea air

This Car Is A Must Drive Expierience, Great Fun, Relaxing And Takes You Back To The 1970's — I like the light feel of the steering. The engine is a 1300 but has a nice crisp sound to it. RWD make's the car real fun to go dirt drifting. seemingly unbreakable motor and gearbox. done over 250k with no trouble. I dislike the availability of parts for this car, panels are not an issue, but the little detailed items such as interior are hard to come by. As it is getting older it is getting more and more rare. Great car to look at. It is a Coupe my model. 4 speed manual. great fun to drive am always smiling even in the event of road rage. Mileage is great being a 4 cylinder, 400 kilometers to a tank of 40 liters. Maintenance not much required, just your usual service. which you can do your self because the mechanics are so simple to work on. you cant stuff up hehe

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Availability of every other part is abundant and cheap.

Cons: Availability of interior parts is rare.

Wish They Made Them Like This Now. — These Corollas were the very definition of cheap, RELIABLE, and economical transportation. This was the beginning of the end of Detroit dominance.

Miles Driven per Year:12,000

Pros: Reliable and trouble free.  Great gas mileage.

Cons: None that I can think of...but then again I drove this in high school and college.

Acceleration — I really like driving this car. It's great on gas and very very dependable. It does have a very stiff accelerater pedal but if you push it to the floor it will get up and go. The other issue is that the front end sits too low for my tastes. I put on new struts but that didn't improve the problem. If anyone can tell me the least expensive way to raise the front end I'd appreciate it. Hiram (donandhi@verizon.net)

Low power, needed a 5th gear to low revs on highway. Very dependable. Overall good value. Really too little power. Lots of shifting gear to gear, especially going up moderate hills. Handling and noise did not make for a pleasant ride. Get me to work and back, but limited joy rides. For such low power I expected better mpg, but it was okay.

Power Ranked 1974 Plymouth Duster better.
"Good sized six cylinder engine versus smallish 4 cylinder engine. Always had to plan merging onto highway with Corolla, and pray. Duster was adequate getting on highway. I would never ever try to pass a car on a two lane road with the Corolla."
Handling Ranked 1974 Plymouth Duster worse.
"You could get the Corolla in and out of tight spaces with ease. The Duster, you kind of had to guess whether of not you were going to scrap something."
Looks/Style Ranked 1974 Plymouth Duster better.
"Duster was more of a fastback, Corolla was more or a milk carton."
Front Seats Ranked 1974 Plymouth Duster worse.
"Buckets vs bench. Buckets were better."
Back Seats Ranked 1974 Plymouth Duster better.
"Decent leg room, more comfortable seats."
Cargo Capacity Ranked 1974 Plymouth Duster better.
"Huge trunk is Duster, tiny trunk in Corolla, no contest."
Family Car Ranked 1974 Plymouth Duster better.
"More room for 3 or more passengers and their stuff."
Value Ranked 1974 Plymouth Duster worse.
"By far less repair and maintenance. "
Would Buy Ranked 1974 Plymouth Duster worse.
"One was dependable, the other got to be embarrassing.."
