Much better, WAY cooler car all around.
Power Ranked 1971 Chevrolet Monte Carlo worse.
"Mine had the Oldsmobile 4-4-2 (also known as the 442) The 4-4-2 name (pronounced Four-four-two) derives from the original cars four-barrel carburetor, four-speed manual transmission, and dual exhausts. It was originally written 4-4-2 (with badging showing hyphens between the numerals), and remained hyphenated throughout Oldsmobiles use of the designation. Beginning in 1965, the 4-4-2s standard transmission was a 3 speed manual along with optional 2 speed automatic or 4 speed manual, but were still badged as 4-4-2s. By 1968 badging was shortened to simply 442, but Oldsmobile brochures and internal documents continued to use the 4-4-2 model designation. [Driven: Front-wheel drive 1968 Oldsmobile A-body. Handling Ranked 1971 Chevrolet Monte Carlo worse.
"Handling was relatively similar. The COOL factor was not."
Looks/Style Ranked 1971 Chevrolet Monte Carlo worse.
"You must ask? Just look at the lines for gods sake!"
Front Seats Ranked 1971 Chevrolet Monte Carlo worse.
"1971-1972 had the Front Split Bench With Center"
Family Car Ranked 1971 Chevrolet Monte Carlo worse.
"Well, really it is only better if you have a teenage son who wants a cool car to drive to school to impress. Otherwise, if you have small kids, stick with the Old Grandma looks of the Monte Carlo."
Would Buy Ranked 1971 Chevrolet Monte Carlo worse.
"In 1971 fewer than 7,600 were sold , it was basically the last gasps of the muscle car era, which makes it way cool in my book. (and ultimately more collectible.)"

Power With No Control — My favorite car I have ever owned. Driving off road or in the snow was great fun. It had a loud powerful 350 rocket and could smoke most other cars on the road when this beast was working. I think everyone should have to drive a old car as their first. It teaches them car maintenance and appreciation.

    Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Muscle cars are the BEST!

Cons: I wish I could find one in good condition.

One Of The Funiest Cars I Have Owned. — This car was kept stock - no need to modify. Bought the car in 1982 and father and I did restore the car (rolling restoration) and drove the car when I was in high school. Kept the car for 24 years before parting with it. It needed to have a frame off restoration at that point. The car had allot of power - it loved to burn tires off. I remember laying a 200 ft strip of rubber with it one night and burning right thru the back tires - one of them went flat the other was not far behind when I stopped due to lose of visibility. Love the way the front seats would fold flat for nights at the drive-in watching movies from the back seat. Really miss this car - may have to find another one - maybe even a convertible.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Power Power Power - this car loved to run fast.

Cons: Maybe to much power for some people - does not handle like new cars.

Cutlass Supreme — This car is a blast to drive, wether your cuising the streets or hitting the open highway. It is almost a joy to take on long trips and you definatly gets some looks when you drive past anyone. The car itself rarely needs any maintenance after we have restored it. I will say this, if you can get a hold of a Cutlass Supreme or Olds 442, pick it up and cherish it!

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

    Pros: The Styling and Color

Cons: None That I Can Think Of

71 Olds Torque Monster! — It was the beast,it had a 350 olds rocket (355 ci) I had it dynoed at 400 hp,hooker headers, edelbrock performer intake, carb, chrome dress up kit,.the cutlass looked very similar to this pic when i purchased it,then painted it corvette red, with the black rally stripes on the hood and deck lid.factory rims with 245 60s rubber,it had 2 1/2 inch dual exhaust.i dressed the shifter and interior with skulls.

Pros: torque ,power, fun to  the fry tires.

Cons: the suspension sucked in the cornering.it couldve been inproved with a kit.

My First And Best Car — this car is the first car I can remember, it has been in my family since it was new, My great aunt gave it to me when she could no longer drive. I made 4 round trips to Iowa to camp EWALU in it, it is very powerful, stops great even with its four drum brakes, they never were a problem I don't have a picture of it though

Pros: super power and handling after suspension upgrades

Cons: Sarah won't let me drive it because it is a two door

First Ebay Car — Bought this car off EBAY when I was 17 with the intentions of making it a show car. But unfotunately everything seemed to go wrong, I'd order some parts for it, take a few months n they tell me they don't have them anymore, paint job was goin to cost me $3500, lil too much for a kid wit no job at the time. But the car didn't need too much anyhow, it was really nice, but deff could have used a different color. It had perfect interior, power bench seat, power windows, power lock, power steering, power brakes, 350 rocket engine that ran great, no rust on the car at all. Owned it for bout a year than sold it to someone local when I decided I didn't have the money to be putting into it at the time and it cost me bout $100 a month just to store it so I was losing money every month.

Pros: Great car, would love to buy another one, but not before buying a 70 Chevelle and a 70 Trans am and a few other cars.

Cons: Fuel guage didn't work so I ran outta gas once, and water liked to leak through the windows when I took it through a car wash.
