1970 Volkswagen 1600 FastbackReview

Vw Type 3s Rock! — I love the VW Fastback. It is both longer and wider than the beetle, and always had the most powerful engines that vw produced. Its a blast to drive and handles great. It turns heads wherever I go, and everyone asks about it Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: Easy to drive, easy to work in Cons: VWs eat money ![]() Looking for a Used 1600 in your area?CarGurus has thousands of nationwide listings and the tools to find you a great deal. |

Air Doesn´t Freeze Neither Boil — Allthoght a young man approciated cars along how fast those could be driven. As a young boy, my dad ownned two VW Variants after other, 1500S and 1600 and yes, that 1500S was more sporty one. At the age of 18 I got my driving-license and I was happy of that of course. After my army I bought first own car in the year -73, used VW 1600L -70 and I was happy again. A while. At following spring there was seen some marks of rust on the front fenders, both! I spent my next summer holiday to had my car fixed up. It coasted quite a lot of money. After that I was dissatisfied of car´s performance, because those two solexs were in missbalance and one electric-choke solenoid was loosened all the time. Ofcourse gasoline was spent a lot. In wintertime car was cold, if you didn´t drive over 20 km further, otherway, it was funniest driving car in winter, on ice and snow. Pros: Quite rigid Cons: Perhaps worst vw-body ever |

Fun A First — -Performance- Wow it sucked. 65hp, 0-60 in about 20 seconds. The only good thing it had, performance wise was handling because the engine was in the back. -Build Quality-It had some engine troubles but that was about it. -Appearance- After I repaintd it and did some custom body mods it looked really nice! -Cost of Ownership- Needed some engine work when I bought it and it held together till I sold it. -It was a nice cruizer but couldent go fast at all I would recommend this car but only in the mid to late 60's years because it looks a lot better Pros: Impossible to get speeding tickets Cons: Impossible to get speeding tickets |
