Want Another One! — My father gave me his Corona when I turned 15. The ONLY problem I had with it was the pin on the shifter fell out for reverse and wore out reverse. Totalled it out when I T-boned a 76 Cadillac. But even after I hit the other car the motor ran for about 8 seconds before it died!

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Fun little quirky car, good gas mileage, get in and go kind of car

Cons: Toyotas stacked boxes on wheels looks

Not In A Million Years. — A true POC, how Toyota made it to the biggest auto maker in the world is hard to understand having this car in memory. To be honest, it was fun to drive, but it fell apart under me and finally the engine seized during a cold, really cold, morning.

Pros: Rather fun

Cons: Low quality

Great Car For Its Time — This was my mom's car. I loved it, reliable, but when time to fix it came, only a few wrenches and standard tools were needed. The only weak points, reverse broke 3 times in 30 years (not so bad) and the water pump corroded easily. The engine was strong and very reliable.

Pros: Reliable

Cons: water pump and reverse were prone to failure.

My In-town Runabout Car — I got this little car for $100 and it has a strong little engine and about a million miles on it. I get compliments on it. He does not like to go over 60 mph.

Pros: Fuel efficient-ish

Cons: Not safe - thin metal, no airbags.

1969 Toyota Corona Sedan Review
ComeDancing says:
This was my first car. Because I bought it in the 1980s, it had a few problems, but when it was running, I never had more fun driving. It was an automatic, but it could really take the highway--I could drive 80-90 MPH. The seats were comfortable, it had all its original parts, including an excellent AM radio, and it was easy to maneuver. I loved this car more than anything. It was friendly, easy to drive, and very durable.
