Performance is Terrible!!!, if you want good gas mileage then get the 4, if you want decent power go with the 4.0 the 3.0 v6 will just annoy you with its low power and crappy gas mileage. To sum it up 3.0= 4 cylinder power with V8 mileage.
Build quality- well there are a lot of recalls on this one. My power steering failed after only 2k miles while it was parked. The passenger seat belt would come undone on its own while driving around town.
The styling of the truck is getting really long in the tooth, ford has been using the same cab/body since '93!!!
I have spent a lot of money keeping this truck in my fleet. So far I have done 4 brake jobs, 3 clutch repairs, 4 sets of tires and so on. And I only have 89k miles on it!
It can be a fun truck to drive, but only in the right situation.
