2007 Kia Spectra EX
Have driven 8500 miles in my new Spectra and have only one complaint. The front drivers seat is uncomfortable and a little narrow. Features are incredible for the price. Have averaged nearly 30 MPG. |

2007 Kia Spectra LX
This was such a good economical deal. A no interest five year financing with an amortization of 84 months!!! Making bi-monthly payments reasonable, flexible and amazingly affordable for a new car!
Pros —
great financing, roomy, luxury feel
Cons —
no back hatch release in the car, no side curtain air bags, not as good gas milage as the Honda Fit on Hwy

Reviewing:
2007 Kia Spectra EX
We needed a commuter that would get us good gas mileage on our 50 mile daily commute, in addition to being comfortable for our 650 mile one-way trips to the bay area to visit family. We already own a Kia Sorento, so this brand is not new to us. We initially test drove an automatic transmission Rio, but were put off with the wheezy engine and cheap interior. As we drove off on our test drive in the Spectra, it was clear that this was an entirely different class of auto. The interior was much nicer both in quality and design. This Spectra EX was equipped with a manual transmission, and the difference in power was obvious. This was one zippy little car! We bought Phil for $13.5k out the door, and put it right to the test. We live in the mountains of Idaho and the last 2.5 miles to our house is washboard and rough. We were both surprised that Phil never lost his composure on our rough road. Our first tank of gas yielded 31 mpg in combined driving. Not bad. Within a week we found out that our new grandson had arrived, so off we drove to the Bay Area of California – a 650 mile trip. Our best tank gave us 35.1 mpg…on the return trip through Nevada we put it to the high speed test – averaging 80-85 mph, with one burst up to 113 indicated. Phil delivered 33.1mpg on that stretch. We now have well over 2000 miles on Phil, and overall we are delighted. It is not anemic car on the steep uphills, easily doing 75, and he’s giving us around 400 miles per tank. Eventually our washboard roads will bring out the squeaks and rattles in Phil, but for now, he’s as solid as Idaho granite. My only wish is that the EX came with cruise control as a standard feature. Other than that, I can recommend the Spectra EX four door with manual transmission as a top notch value and fun car to drive.
Pros —
Fuel economy, overall value
Cons —
Cruise control should be standard on the EX
