My 2003 2.3L auto has been amazing. Interior and paint still look new even with 300,000 miles. Just got the engine rebuilt and trans for $4,000. Better investment than buying another truck. Ready for another 300,000k. Originally purchased for only $500. Yup, $500.Feb 14, 2024

left me stranded 1 time due to the timing belt breaking. a cheap fix at $300. That was water pump and everything while they had it apart! You really need to get this truck! 4 cylinder 5 speed manual trans is the best package! I get as much a 32MPG! that's driving like my grandpa, but who cares? Saves me gas!Feb 10, 2015

I want a 4 door 4 wheel drive, its a great vehicle to drive daily, great on gas mileage, roomy enough to do the work of a full side. Small seats in rear extended cab, plenty big for grocery or hauling small itemsApr 12, 2014

Great little truck, sorry to see that ford stop making them. Would buy a new one if they were still being made. Flex fuel engine MPG can be a little tough on the old wallet. 120,000 and still going strong.Mar 29, 2014

I bought this truck for me because I wanted to be able to haul plants, gardening things, etc. and only had a family car. General has run great for us over the years. This is a great truck. Highly recommended.Jul 13, 2012

This has been a great car for me. I have used it for hauling up to 8 full size mtn bikes, slept in the back on ski trips, traveled all over the NW in all kinds of weather. Its weaknesses of mileage and road noise are more than made up for its modest price tag holding true to the Ranger stereotype of reliability as a light truck. It will tow in a pinch, but if you are going to pull anything heavy or far load the box with some weight to help the ride.Apr 15, 2012

not my first choise but a good enough lil truck, easy maintenanceseems built tough
have nt put no big repairs in it , gas mileage is ok thought it would be
better, bought it cheap so the price was good for resale. I do usally take it for
longer trips because of backseat storeageJul 25, 2011

I love my truck but ... It breaks quite often, i'm always replacing parts. It runs well and its a trooper, i put it through hell. Its not a sports car but i love it! I named it Alfredo and its my favorite Truck out of all of them.Apr 26, 2011

I got this one from my dad in 2010, with only 55000 miles on it. He had
used it as his work-truck, and it looks it - paint splatters all over, a few
dents, etc. It looks like a truck!
4 speed manual, drives ok, but it takes some getting used to after
driving one of the other cars I have. Aug 16, 2010

Well for a truck it does its job well. It pulls small trailers quite easily,
plus it also has great gas mileage for city and highway. Honestly I have
always wanted a truck like this. Its not too huge, I dont need to carry
lots of large loads, so it suits me. It accelerates quite well, brakes are
not as reactive as i want the to be. It is 11 years old and i have not had
a single serious issue with the truck. I only have replaced the sway bar
bolts because of rust so its in great condition for its age. Currently it
has 58000 on it so its quite young. the tranny fluid needs to be
changed because it does not shift as smoothly as it should. All in all
this truck is awesome.Jun 10, 2010

i like that the extension sides are doors and open up for easer access. I also like that it came with a fiberglass cover on the bed. It turned the bed into a very large trunk for my little truck Dec 27, 2009

Overall good truck. Was a little underpowered and uncomfortable on long trips.
I had a problem with the rear brake cylinders locking up on me, but Ford covered it under warranty. All in all it was a fun truck though.Sep 24, 2009

I Love my truck, its low cost, great on gas, looks good, runs good, no repairs other than a peck on the windshield from a rock, not extremely powerful but it serves it's purpose well. Good vehicle for anyone. I drive a standard by the way.Sep 14, 2009

Well - it was actually a 4 door. I put about 50k miles on this truck in 11 months. Never a problem. Very solid, and towed well. Would like to have another (one day). Went through, over, on, much terrain and weather with this truck.Aug 16, 2009

its performance is it has good brakes, the handling is easier than a 4 door chevy mini van. it needs a few repairs cause a basketball goal fell on it and put a dent in the hood. its a hunter green.Aug 09, 2009

Good truck, very simple in terms of controls. You have what you need on it. Great small truck for some off road fun never got stuck with 4WD. Parts are econimical and easy to do yourself. Very fun ride, will definitely drive in some off road scenarios. Truck is also good for camping.Dec 05, 2008

Truck is exellent. powered by a v6 flex fuel motor. in the front rotors to stop it with drums in the back. pretty cheap to own. great on mileage. very fun to drive. new tires and rims make it hard to burn out without tearing up the transmission. overall i love this truckAug 21, 2008

My first truck had to be small yet able to haul a bunch of crap. My blue Ranger was just that. I had a great time helping friends and family (and eventually myself) move from town to town. As gas prices soured, I needed something that got more the 15-18 miles per gallon. I'll miss it!Aug 03, 2008

It is a wonderful car that gets me from point A to point B. I love the way that it handles. It handles like a car for steering and braking but drives like a truck with the 4x4. A reasonable vehicle for a first one. Works, runs, and looks great! What more would I want in a vehicle?Jun 10, 2008

So far it has a factory 2 inch lift with slighty taller tires. The grill has a custom made mesh insert to help protect the radiators from road debris. Switched the clutch fan out to an electric fan (need to make a shroud for it yet).
Interior is mostly stock, but the stereo was upgraded to a Kenwood unit, as well the speakers were upgraded to Infinity Reference series.Apr 17, 2008

the truck is solid. no rust, no rot. runs perfect, no hiccups. ive driven this truck to hell and back, and it still runs perfectly. ive loaded so much weight on the back that the tires were rubbing in the wheel-wells, and it still runs great.Jan 14, 2008

Good truck. Flex fuel capability will come in handy. I liked my '88 so well I bought this one. It's bigger and hevier then the '88 and it's got the Sport package to boot. My little sports car truck.Jun 27, 2007

I haven't really had this truck very long but it has been through some tough times already. I have taken it out in fields, heavy snow, and mud and its still going. A few problems here and there but nothing a little TLC won't cure.May 06, 2007
