21 years old so there is rust underneath.
It looks like the engines rear seal is leaking.
Otherwise, not a bad vehicle.Aug 09, 2021

I've always loved driving it in the winter with the 4x4. I've never gotten stuck and the heater in it has always kept me warm. The coldest I've ever started the vehicle was at -25 degrees and that was last winter when I went to visit a friend in Windsor Colorado. Always been a great running truck and the biggest reason I'm needing to get rid of it, is cause i need a bigger pickup for the work that I do.Dec 04, 2014

this truck has been the most reliable vehicle I have owned- never had any problems with it doing what I asked it to do- commute to work or go camping or moving family and friends' belongings from one house to another. I always felt safe and my kids learned to drive in this truck . In bad weather I insisted that they use the truck and I would drive the front wheel drive vehicle that we owned because I knew the 4 wheel drive would get them home safely Nov 20, 2014

Great On, and Off Road, but can not Pull very well, or what Ford says it can Tow. Gas Mileage is Fair, but all 60/40 Drivers Seats Rip (Must be a Factory Flaw). If you do the Normal Maintenance on this Truck, it will be Safe, and Run for many, many years!Nov 09, 2014

Good for a small truck , comfortable, excellent get up and go. Handle s well as all pick ups light in the back end but a good truck for the everyday man. Easy to find parts and easy to fix thanksJan 06, 2014

I like that it can haul, pull and do everything I need it to do. I wish it would get closer to 20 mpg highway unloaded. I pull a 12' pop up camper and it pulls it well. I load my cruiser motorcycle weighing just under 700 lbs in the bed and it hauls it very well. I have loaded the bike in the bed while pulling a boat and trailer weighing 3100 lbs from TN to CA. I averaged 11 mpg. For a small pick up, it does exceptionally well. I use it as it was designed to be used....it's a truck.Sep 21, 2013

For my Ranger to have a V6 it really does not show it. It only has 150 hp and its not
slow but it could use a few extra ponies. The mpg isn't all that great either at just
about 15 mpg ( I drive mostly city). Overall Rangers are good quality trucks and this
baby is not an exception. This truck is relatively fun to drive but I wouldn't really call
it sporty even though it does have the sport package! It is easy to drive, see out of,
and is a much better truck than the Toyota Tacoma in terms of build quality.Sep 27, 2010

Put it through a tough work load over the years. It was
9 years of driving it before it started wearing and
tearing. Its a fun truck to just drive around in or use
for work or play. Easy enough to jack up for muddin
too. Good ol truck!Dec 06, 2009

The Ranger is a very good little truck that isn't so little. Plenty of power, looks good, decent fuel mileage - but I can only speak for the 4.0 liter engine and 5 speed auto combination. Has been a very good truck since I bought it new in 2000.Nov 30, 2009

Car is nice it pulls off-roading it could use more power like a KNN Cold Air Intake 3 inch lift and 33 or 35 inch tires then it would be a bad ass off roading...dont get me wrong it pulls just could use some more powerOct 28, 2009

Good Truck but it doesnt have alot of power but what can you expect from a 3.0 V6. the appearance is nice and the build quality is great. Gas mileage does lag though and gets only about 18mpg on a good day. But it is fun to drive and will go through alot before it stops. Oct 12, 2009

Its only got a 160 under the hood so its a little under powered but it is definatley better than a little 2.3 L ranger. Ran a 17.6 at mapple grove. Gets between 15 and 17 around town and just over 20 on the highway. Not too bad for a truckOct 08, 2009

Performance is so-so but just for the look of it I can drive all day long! Well built with good quality overall, easy to lowered tru a lot of aftermarket parts available for it or raise it up for go everywere stance!Sep 04, 2009

It was a pretty good first vehicle. I ended up getting
50,000 extra miles out of the spark plugs without
damaging anything else. Even with good tires it did
not handle that well in rain let alone snow. I'll have a
truck again soon in the near future but at least I did
have a pretty nice sound system in there.Jul 05, 2009

This car has been durable without many problems at all. It
does what you expect of it for a long time. I have had it inthe
shop twice for non-maintenance issues. Not fun to drive, but
gets the job done.Jun 23, 2009

This truck is pretty nice, its got plenty of room on the inside, its got a decent and reliable engine in it (3.0L V6), The truck is pretty fun to drive also, it gets decent mileage for a truck that size, and its also a flex fuel vehicle, so i can buy E85 ethanol and it wont hurt the truck at all, its pretty easy to dress the truck up too with a bug deflector and some rain deflectors on the windows, also u can put some stickers on it :)May 07, 2009

Best small pickup I have ever driven, though i do wish it was offered with at the very least 4.6L V8 if not the 5.0L from the explorer of the same year. It was a great car to drive with great gas mileage, and the 5 speed transmission was tons of fun on winding roads.Sep 22, 2008

I love my truck, altough its a little sluggish on power, but what do you expect from a 3 liter. Te truck is built very well, and handles like a dream. The only downsides are that it doesn't have a whole lot of power and the gas milage wasn't what i was expectingAug 29, 2008

The 3.0L SOHC FFV engine is very reliable and has good torque, but slow. Never had a problem with the engine or components. The tranny is weak but gets the job done. Handles like a tank but dropping it 8'' doesnt help that. Can take a turn like a champ! The brakes are aftermarket bc of the 20'' wheels i managed to squeeze in there, but work good. The frame of the truck is very solid along with the rear axle. The inside is pretty nice. The look of the truck is very eye pleasing with nice body lines and curves. Rangers can look real nice when done right. I got the truck with 45,000 miles for $8,000. I think thats pretty good. Also it gets 23-26 mpg highway. Maintance is regular. The truck is fun to drive around town, shows, smooth roads, and turns. I love drivin mini trucks!Jul 25, 2008

The Ford Ranger is a solid, reliable, work truck. Its ideal for college students do to its eficiency on gas, and is ideal for the outdoor sportsmen like hunters, off-roaders, etc due to its light weight benifits for offroading. The truck drives and handles very well id reccomend it to anyone looking for an American Made reliable vehical that is matched Toyota in quality.Jul 19, 2008

I would recommend this truck to anyone looking for a mid-size truck. It's kind of short, but it has more comfort for longer rides as it rides more like a car than a full-size truck.Jul 08, 2008

I love my truck because it has been extremely faithful. Even after all this time it still looks almost new and it still runs great! The only thing is that it's a 4-cylinder and I wish it had a little more power.Jun 17, 2008

Its a great truck. Got it when it had 12,000 miles on it. Haven't had any major issues with it at all, and it has 120,000 miles on it now. All that we have replaced is tires and fuses. It's been a pretty amazing little run around and is pretty good on gas. I would recommend to anyone looking for an around town car. May 14, 2008

Its a great truck. very reliable, fun to drive, love the 5 speed, pretty good torque, lacks top end power but it is a 2.5 four cylinder turnin 31x10.50's so what do you expect, extremely tough i run the hell out of mine and it never gives any trouble, i have a full exhaust system k&n air filter and a airraid throttle body spacer and it gets 24 mpg even with the 31'sFeb 28, 2008

Use both as daily driver and Off Road. I am SOoooo Happy to have traded away a Full Size PU (Gas Guzzler) for this Ranger. Additionally; as a Mountain Off Roader the smaller Ranger is much better. Full size trucks do not fit on old mining roads.Sep 18, 2007
