I would compare it to a Volkswagen Jetta turbo and a Lexus is250... The 328i is better all around, but out of all the cars Ive owned those two are the closest both in size and performance. Apr 30, 2024

This car needed work. It has rust on the rear quarter panel behind the passenger side rear wheel that you cant see in the pics that was poorly painted over with gold rattle can paint. Same thing goes for the top of the trunk near the edge, weird rust spots. The suspension is shot the car needs new control arms as least, it feels sloppy, and the radiator is leaking. The transmission and engine feel good though, A and C pillars have the material coming unglued, which is not atypical for one of these at this stage in the game. $2800.00 car at best.Nov 01, 2020

I ordered this car from BMW when the new model came out in 2000. Manual transmission, sport package, convenience package black and tan. It still look and drives perfectly. Under 50k miles in 15 years! I want to keep it forever.Apr 29, 2015

Overall the 325i is a great car. I found it had sufficient power for the daily commute but lacked the adrenaline rush power of the M series or even the 330i. It handled well for a sedan and I really enjoyed driving it on my daily commute.Dec 15, 2014

This car was a gift with only 40,000 miles on the and we have had BMWs stretching back over the last 30 years. It handles the roads beautifully, is comfortable and is a joy to ride. Our other car was a Mercedes, but we're looking again for another BMW because of the way it handles the road. The time we're looking for an xi so it can handle the snow. It had been reliable over the last ten plus years and we are not planning to replace the car. This car has much other than tires, regular maintenance and depreciation.Feb 07, 2014

Not just a mode of transport, it's a styling statement. Great looks coupled with the power to back it all up. With 231ps on tape the horizon isn't as far away as it looks. Bad points, thirsty as you would expect, i struggle to keep around 25mpg which especially at this time makes it expensive to run, also keep in mind maintenance cost, fat low profile tyres and general BMW parts never come cheap, but who buys a BMW to be frugal anyway :) If you get one, get friendly on the BMW forums, there is plenty about and generally a lot of information and assistance availableNov 24, 2011

I totally love my car. It is german top quality with great performance, stability
and fuel consumption. The costs of the parts are pretty average for a 10 year
old car and is extremely fun to drive, especially when the weather gets a bit
slippery. The Orient Blue color gives another STAR to the outlook of my car
together with the M3 17' alloy rims and the fact that it is a coupe, not a regular
sedan.

Just love this car, have owned a few bmw's but this is the best of them all to date..the enginge is so super responsive and quiet and smooth, the five speed box is very close and easy to shift, the whole car is very tight and corners brilliantly Mar 28, 2011

This car is the first car I ever owned, so naturally I have some loyalty to it. However, at the time it was the cheapest BMW on the market. That means, it's slow, handles OK, and has no bells and whistles. Car has literally been redone from top to bottom with new suspension, upgraded brakes and rotors, intake, software, pulleys, headers, and the list goes on.Oct 08, 2010

We have had several BMWs. We tend to favor the 3 series because the feel is "sportier". After the tradgedy we suffered in our 325, we knew it was time to make a change, but we wanted to stay with the BMW. This one has the performance package and blows away the basic 325i! Larger, wider, hi-peformance tires contribute to the handling difference, but the typical BMW environment is so improved by going up in trim-level. This car just plain rocks!Oct 04, 2010

BMW factory has delivered this car with: good breaks, strong engine and a lot of fun in its standard package! High quality product in its class! With its 231HP it get you from 0 - 100km/h in 6,7 sec and drives up to 250km/h!Sep 12, 2010

Performance is absolutely awesome. Has great speed and pulling power.
Build quality is excellent. It is a Beemer afterall.
Appearance is stunning as everyone already knows.
The Cost of Ownership is not as much as people make out to be. Yes the services are expensive but you want quality you pay for it.
This car is more than fun to drive it is exhilerating.Jun 25, 2010

quick acceleration, a lot of torque at low rpms, after market lights for style, bad mpg, a lot of fun to be crusinging around on in tight curvy roads. Braking and handling are really good, never has it let me downFeb 05, 2010

Smooth daily driver, no real problems but not an outstanding performer. In all an extremely balance nice car. Wish I had gotten it with a standard...
Wait! I just got a cabrio with a standard!
Really love the sports seats!Nov 05, 2009

This is by far the best car i have ever owned. The car is ten years old, with 110000 miles, and it still looks like new inside and out. BMW just makes a great car. I expect this one to go another 100000 easy. No major engine work to date. Just regular maintenance, and when i turn the key it still returns he favor.
The only downside is that it has the 2.5 lire from the 325 so it only has 175 hp. But going 80 down the highway and getting 29 mpg, that is just awesome. Sep 12, 2009

Maintenance on this thing kills! An oil change alone will run you about $100. However, it handles like a champ and rear wheel drive is a plus. Being a standard, it's the most fun CAR I've ever driven, hands down. My favorite, for sure.Sep 10, 2009

Its a great car. Its fun to drive and reliable. It is the most comfortable car I have ever driven. I drove this vehicle from Denver to Atlanta with no problems and over this period of time I averaged over 30MPG. It was the easiest long distance drive I have ever had. Aug 31, 2009

I recently put on an H&R Sport Cup Suspension Kit which compliments the car fantastically. It is by far my favorite car I have ever owned. It cost a lot to fix and to modify but in the end it is all worth it. Jul 13, 2009

very quiet, smooth and comfortable, reasonably economical (30mpg), a good motorway car, very well made, lots of gadgets, looks nice, sounds good (straight six 3.0 litre), reasonably good acceleration, very comfortable seats, cheap to run & insure, and it's a bmw!!Jul 09, 2009

Great Car. Excellent Handling. Is great in all weather except snow. Ice and snow can be a handful as it is only RWD. Get the 5-Speed. It shifts so smooth. Great features, all the bells and whistles you want.Dec 29, 2008

Loveed that driving this car was like taking off in airplane, smooth, like riding on rails around corners. I was able to complete most of the maintenance; Oil change, Brakes, Fuel Pump, Spark-plugs... Just a great car I miss drivingDec 11, 2008

I bought this car because my previous one broke all the time. This car is very dependable, can corner like it's on rails, and feels great to drive. Warms up super quick in the wintertime, and comes with so many luxury amenties you learn that you cannot live without. It really is the ultimate driving machine! Once you have owned a BMW, you will never own a different brand of vehicle. Everyone likes my car, I have never had anyone say anything bad about it.Oct 28, 2008

Performance: v6- 193 hp @ 5300 rpm, that propels the car from 0 to 100 km/h in about 7.6 sec- in optimal conditions- (it just feels good to accelerate and overtake cars at high speeds).
Appearance: Very appealing design plus the 17'' rims, the xenon lights and the chrome trims.
Very fun car to drive.

Nice black car with black leather interior. Great sound in the 6 cylinder engine. Smooth automatic gearbox. Fuel consumption about 9 l / 100km. Its very silent and all seems to be in good condition allthough its almost 200tkm driven. I think this car is fun to drive because its rwd.Aug 12, 2008

Very nice car for a base model. Would prefer to have a higher-end model (think E46 M3) but this will do in a pinch. Decent performance, GREAT handling for as softly sprung as it is, and pretty decent gas mileage to boot. So far it's been fairly reliable. Have had a couple of pricey repairs (most of which were covered under extended warranty), but so far so good.Aug 06, 2008

Ultimate driving machine. I have owned a couple of these machines, albeit different models, the convertibles are a glorius piece of driving machinery. A real head turner to drive and has an acceleration capacity to rival many a carJul 07, 2008

Not a show offs car but still is a good/higher performance car, has a nice sounding engine when you pull up,
and is a good overall car, however i do not like the BMW M3 as i believe it is too "flashy" and i would much
rather prefer the BMW 330i as i think it has more style and charisma...Jun 15, 2008

Clearly the best looking 3 series to date. Its balance in handling, braking, and ride are just phenomenal. The 2.5L is a bit weak by todays standards, but has awesome mpgs. Manual tranny is the best ever and continues to feel like new even with 90k miles. Clearly this car is a great buy if you can find one in great condition. Ownership is stress-free; just add gas and change the oil!Mar 15, 2008

Even with traction control, the rear-wheel drive sedan must be handled carefully on snow or you'll spin around. This model year needed some more power which eventually was given. And also needs an available all-wheel drive which also eventually became an option.Mar 10, 2008

The last of the E46 model. It has the M sport package so the suspension, wheels and brakes are superior. Would highly recommend.Dec 29, 2007

I drove this car from Boston to Houston over the summer. I do like a lot of things about this car. The acceleration is great (i drove the manual transmission,) everything in the interior is perfectly placed, but at the end of every day my back hurt A LOT as did my wallet because its not the best car on gas. We also had a few electrical problems with the car, namely the power windows. Sometimes they would go down but not up, sometimes they would go up but not down.....VERY ANNOYING! BMW didn't seen to care too much about helping us resolve the problem either.
Bottom line, If I look into spending money on a performance vehicle again I would probably look elsewhere first. Probably the Lexus IS350.Nov 17, 2006
