The Mercedes-Benz C280 didn't see many changes for 1999. The engine is the same: a 2.8-liter, 194-hp V6 that propels the car from 0 - 60 mph in 7.2 seconds on its way to a drag-limited top speed of 153 mph.

Drivers still rave about the C280, citing its performance, multi-way power seat, automatic climate control, and - for audio hounds - its Bose speakers. For many, though, a favorite feature is the rear-view and side-view mirrors that automatically turn to a greenish shade in the evening, effectively eliminating headlight glare.

People seem to notice three drawbacks: the theft-allure of the hood ornament, the fact that the Benz C280 needs premium gas, and the ultra-smooth ride that makes it just too easy to go far above the speed limit without noticing.
