Preview of 2009 Acura MDX

The 2009 Acura MDX, a carryover, sees very few changes from 2008. This full-size luxury SUV seats up to seven people and offers three options packages: Technology, Sport and Entertainment. Equipped with a 3.7-liter V6 engine, the all-wheel-drive MDX maxes out at 300 hp with a five-speed automatic transmission. The EPA estimates gas mileage at 15/20/17 (city/highway/combined), and the MDX takes premium-grade fuel.

The MDX clearly aims at comfort and luxury, coming with standard dual-level heated front seats, leather upholstery, a moonroof, and a Bluetooth interface. The Technology package adds further amenities such as a voice-recognition navigation system, a rearview camera, and an improved sound system. The Sport package includes the Technology package and adds an adjustable sport suspension and xenon headlights. User reviews have shown the standard suspension to be quite adequate, and the sport suspension's added cornering performance also offers a more rigid overall ride. The Entertainment package is available in conjunction with both of the other packages, and adds a rear DVD entertainment system, heated second-row seats, and a power liftgate.

Safety features for the MDX include dual-stage front airbags, side curtain airbags with a rollover sensor, antilock brakes, and traction control. The middle row of seats split-folds in 50/50 proportions, and the rear seats are 60/40.
