my 2005 saturn ion losses power while driving check engine light appears followed by power down light i shut the car off for about a minute and is back to normal .does this too often .need help

2005 saturn ion experiencing power loss during normal driving conditions ,the warning
signal pops up i shut off the car for about a minute restart it and drives normal until this
same pattern continues to happen. i don't know how to fix this. any suggestions?

My car did the same. I changed the spark plugs first but after that didn't fully work I changed the coil pack. Now she's running smooth. Good luck.

The same thing is happing to me. I changed the ingnition coil and the ignition control module. And it's still doing the same thing. Please please help me. Lost Debbie.

you must change the catalytic converter it is plugged up with junk. buy on line, no welding neccessary just bolts to unscrew. cost is from 88 to 147 dollars. make sure you look under your car to see if it bolted at both ends from flex neck to muffler.

I'm currently working on this exact problem plus intermittent will not start issues as well. and the catalytic converter is not a likely candidate to fix this whatsoever. may as well have said change the rear side fuel amplifier and see if the warp factor increases or see the negative horse power cable is loose.
