1992 firebird problems

Asked by smwhitmire Oct 13, 2014 at 12:58 PM about the 1992 Pontiac Firebird Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am almost sure my transmission is going out.  First and second gear seem a little
weaker and the car rolls in reverse when park is fully engaged.  Is it possible to fix?

The reverse part of your question could be sloppy worn out u-joints or just ware in the drive line because of age. The weak shifting could be because of low fluid. If its not low and the fluid is a nice clear red color like cherry kool-aid, then I would get the transmission flushed or have it looked at by a REPUTABLE mechanic/transmission specialist.
