bad fuel pump?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Would a bad fuel pump cause a car to run
strong for around 8 min, then shut down, and
not restart for around an hour or so?
I replaced everything it may be, sensors,
modules, optispark, ... and with a pump costing
so much, I am hesatant to dump that much into
it if it could not be the problem.
Probabilly a dumb question but help!

I used to have a 1992 Pontiac Bonneville somebody added an extra alarm system to the vehicle but the car already had a GM alarm system this car started randomly shutting down and restarting after a while similar to what the problem you have, it could be a throttle position sensor going bad do you have any codes on the dash let us know.

When I first got the car there were no problems, it just suddenly popped up. At first I thought it was an issue of the gas gage reading wrong and it ran out of gas, but getting more gas let it start again, then it would diw again after a while so I kept a full tank. Thats when I started changing all the sensors and modules. I even replaced the optispark. The only thing left that hasnt been replaced is the fuel pump. I just dont know what to do anymore. The battery died a few times, so there are codes on it that would erase themself after driving the 50 miles to reset the computer, but with out being able to run longer than 8 min, cant do that, so theres 100 codes.

I've heard of some vehicles having issues with their fuel pump after running them dry but usually Japanese cars so not sure that its your fuel pump so at this point especially since you have no codes I would recommend you take it to a shop I wouldn't want to miss direct you because it could be something other than the fuel pump?
