WOW, that's a lot more detail than the news media ever reported. do you know any more about the crash?

About Tiger Woods and the Genesis SUV, I’ve seen photos of the engine compartment and the interior front area. It appears that the wreck involved a head-on collision that drove the engine backward. The engine pushed directly back into the firewall and it either collapsed or bent significantly, and the firewall might have become separated from the monocoque due to a failure of weld joints. The firewall then pushed into the passenger compartment and encroached on the front passenger leg area. The result was Woods’ suffering significant damage to his right leg & foot and some damage to his left leg & foot. Other cars, like Mercedes and Audi, would have seen engine movement that differed from the Genesis. These superior cars have crumple zones in the front and rear. When an engine is pushed rearward, the car’s design, including the body, firewall, frame, and engine- transmission supports, move not just back, but down, as well. The engine would then likely bend the firewall somewhat, but it would then slide under the foot well to prevent such injuries as Woods sustained. I believe that had Woods experienced a similar crash in a better car, he would have walked away with only bruises and strains….. With Woods assets, I suspect that he’s used to driving better cars, and this accident might have been caused by his driving this Genesis as he would have driven a much better performing car: the Genesis just couldn’t handle it….. My colleagues support several racing teams, including Porsche, Audi, and Ferrari. I’ve seen these cars in on-track crashes at speeds above 70 mph, up to in excess of 150 mph. The cars are usually totaled, but the drivers exit with little injuries: a testament to quality….. In the past day, I read a LOT of publicity stating that Woods is fortunate to have been driving a car that is so progressive that its technology saved his life: I think the lady doth protest too much! And I believe that the Tiger Woods crash will live to be the worst advertising that Genesis could get. This highly visible and publicized event will be seen by everyone on the planet. It’s sure to draw the attention of ambulance chasers who will eventually build a case on these suspected Genesis failures. The outcome could cause a widespread mistrust of this car company, which in my opinion, is richly deserved.

First: The reason Woods was driving a “crap” car like that and had that single-car accident is because the car was a “loaner” that Genesis gave him to drive during the nearby golf tournament. And as we’ve all done when we rent cars, he was driving the hell out of it………. Palos Verdes isn’t far from me and I know the area well: it’s rolling hills with gentle turns makes for a pleasant drive when going reasonable speeds. But I’m sure Woods was trying to push the Genesis to its limits & he found it. I’m certain he just hit a sweep that he & the car weren’t prepared for; for spoiled, inexperienced ass-holes, this happens a lot. He lost control and hit a curb which threw the car into the lavish brush that borders the houses there. Had he been driving an Audi, or even a Lexus, the car’s geometry would have likely corrected for some of the problems and his injuries would have been less severe to minimal. The Genesis Woods was driving isn’t that expensive; probably around seventy grand, so its not built for performance. As for myself, I would never challenge a car like that. It’s like Dirty Harry said, “A man’s got to know his limitations.”

Football is a Sport….. Racecar Driving is a Sport….. Golf is an Activity; it’s like the male version of a Tupperware Party…… Tiger’s professional life encompasses golf and product endorsements, so he probably keeps himself in pretty good physical condition. But from what I’ve seen, by his mental and emotional condition, he’s a squirrel; so it’s likely that all this was the result of a joyride gone bad, or a moment if inattention. The car however is something else. Driving around a smooth sweeping curve, you wouldn’t expect an SUV with performance enhancements to lose control like that, even if a wheel slammed into a curb. So I suspect that the GV80 was designed more with eye-catching comfort in mind; something good for cruising through the paved roads of Yosemite Valley, but not for any aggressive driving at all.
