itI have a 1996 Ford explorer 4WD, model EPR, she runs very strong but i have never ( that I've known of) had her in 4 WD. I tried to one time and I heard a loud noise and I thought I was tearing something up... obviously I been single way to long. How do I put it in 4 WD, and take it out. I used to have a truck and you had to go .forward so many feet and in reverse ,just not sure. It's only a switch but I don't want to mess her up... I read other people's issue/questions and that made me more hesitant. Please help.. it's snowing lol it's the other people in the road I'm worried about: ) thank you

ok sounds like your transfer case. are you trying to go into 4 high? or low? if high it should just go right in as you drive along no faster than 50, if low have the truck running and in neutral at 3mph. Works in my other explorer. Nick(:
