Is the plug-in better for highway driving vs regular hybrid?

Asked by nightstalker4x4 Aug 12, 2020 at 07:02 PM about the 2020 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid SEL FWD

Question type: General

I have a 30+ mile highway commute to work and am considering getting to an
Ioniq plug-in. Is it worth it or should I just get a regular hybrid Ioniq? Which is
better for highway driving?

Hyundai claims a 29 mile range on battery only. No advantage out on the highway. Compare the cars costs to see if the plug in is worth buying.

I would prefer a plug in. The reason is beyond mpg. If the Democrat war on fossil fuels prevails, gas will become very expensive. Also although we are now energy independent, one never knows about gas supplies if war breaks out in the oil producing middle East.

There is a war on affordable electricity too. California rates are super high and the grid is on the way to collapse.
