96 Nissan pick up will not start only clicks. Tried everything and will not start!

Sounds like a bad starter solenoid http://www.wikihow.com/Test-a-Starter-Solenoid

did you check main cable to Starter for corrosion or bad connection same cable connection at battery? Experience any sporatic starting problems prior to total failure?
