i have a 1998 nissan pathfinder and i was wondering what is the main difference betweeen a 4runner and the pathfinder part wise

I like your question because I need parts for my truck all the time so I just call up my local parts yard and they have a conversion chart that can tell you if something will fit your vehicle. If no listing than they may just know it off top of their head. They scrap cars all day so they might know. PS. I wouldn't call the same place ever time because their free info is hoping you will buy something from them. If your just looking for trim or something than just call a speciality shop.
