2008 Camry tire torque

Asked by Skylarkboat Jul 23, 2014 at 12:51 PM about the 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Dealer rotated tires and tightened lug nuts to 100 ft lbs.  Owner's Manual states 76 ft lbs.  Is there any potential damage or problems if lug nuts are simply retorqued to 76 ft lbs?

Your car has 12x1.5mm studs. Typical torque is 75-85, although 100 will not do any damage. So you are fine with what they did.

Original wheels which appear to be aluminum - a magnet will not stick. Thanks for any help.

yes 100 ft lbs shouldn't hurt the wheels, but it can and will warp the rotors, that's why the factory sets a torque value that's good for the connection not just one part
