1997 Ford Taurus Window

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1997 Ford taurse and my rear driver side window was replaced.  It is now on track but will not stay up.  I can pull it up by hand but then it falls back down instantly.  How do I fix it so the window will stay up.  I do have power windows but I believe the motor might be broke to the window.  Im not concerned about the power to it working but I do need to have the window up.

Without replacing the motor your options are limited. You can take off the door panel to access the track and see if you can shim it or use some tape to hold it in place. The easiest way is to use some duct tape to hold it up. You can do it on the inside at the top so it doesn't look as bad from outside.

I could replace the motor with no problem, but I believe there is a square metal piece that allows the window to work properly that is missing. So without the piece the window still will not stay up even after I fix the motor.
