my 2001 Maxima brake lights will not turn off even when i disconnect the switch at the pedal Help?

You removed the electrical connector from the brake pedal switch and the lights are still energized? Power has to be getting onto that circuit from somewhere. Does the 2001 Nissan use the brake lights as turn signal bulbs?

with key in off position? no way! ??

if you mean the brake light on the dash, mine won't turn off because someone messed up my abs brakes. Hope this helps
