AT Check light

Asked by GuruX52NZ Oct 23, 2019 at 12:23 AM about the 2005 Nissan Altima 2.5

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2005 Nissan Altima and when I turn the key
the AT check light comes on for a second but it
always turns off. Is that normal or an early warning
for a bad transmission?

All the warning lights should turn on briefly when starting, this way you know they work.

My car turns on but doesn’t want to turn all the way we checked all fluids no leaks and the at check turns on but then turns off . When I was driving it didn’t want to go faster then the steering wheel kinda locked on me. My question is in your experience what do you think the issue is or best guess.

I have a 2006 Nissan Altima so I know what you mean and the AT check light flashing on and off doesn’t always necessarily mean that your transmission is going bad, it could also mean that your transmission fluid is low. One of the symptoms of a bad transmission is if your engine is having trouble turning over, so if your car is stalling ignition meaning (it takes a second for the engine to turn on, but makes the noise), then at that point I would take it to the mechanic for them to diagnose it.
