How do I connect the link rod from the door handle to the latch?

Asked by Roldyb Apr 19, 2020 at 04:02 AM about the 1997 Ford Explorer 4 Dr XLT 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have the rod hooked up to the door handle and at
the end of the rod it looks like it screws in to the
latch, but can not figure out how to screw it in
unless I need another part that connects them.

Without seeing inside your door, here is what I suspect. The rod which attaches to the handle (outside) has grooves on the bottom end. It looks like a screw thread, but it is not. It attaches to another rod via a plastic clip, used for adjustment. Check the bottom of the door and see if it fell off. At any rate, there should be a video on the net to guide you.
